Another new thread in the same day, man..

Okay after todays play I wanted to ask the many of you that pass, why you pass and I think I know why, but want confirmation , please.

Picking lines should not be a hard thing to do, simple really, if using the criteria as set before us, no??

1st. Try to be within the last 30 days if possible, but never more than 90 days , UNLESS A STAKES RACE, more on that later, and if possible use the last race for the best results of current form, unless there was definite trouble in the race, then look further back, but stay with in 90 days

2nd If more than 2, or 3 unknowns, like FTS, with no lines skip the race.

3rd. Too many shippers from everywhere for something other than a stakes races, like cl and al races, skip it, but 1-2 shippers from a known track are acceptable if there are good recent lines to choose from.

4th. When all lines are the same Distance and Surface, but yet the best races were over 90 days ago, how deep do you go, 180 days, a year back, or do you stick with current form and use 1 of the last 3 always, and if so why, please, your reasoning for it????

5th Too many lay-offs from the runners of this race, at 2-3 or more with over 180 days or a year off, to me means to me much unknown, where only one, amy come up and bite me, but when too many don't even try it.

6th. I always forget this one, Turf to Poly is okay, Dirt to Turf is not okay, or is it vice versa, or are there certain examples where it is okay?

7th. Is there a time when you see it is okay to go deep into a line from the past, well over 90 days or even longer, and how would you justify this?

8th. I rarely go farther than the 2nd line, 1st, because 30 days doesn't have too many 3 lines to choose from, and 2nd it gives me a chance to overlook a troubled race, yet still keep recent form in focus.

9th. When in doubt, do you use 2 lines and then evaulate from there, thus giving you what you want anyway, isn't that right there?

10th. Another I forget is is okay for route to sprint, but sparint to route is kinda proven to be a losing propostion over time.

There are more but this was a few of the line questions I been piling up for others to help me with, by hearing there reasoning behind certain myths and maybe disspelling a few of them, maybe...

Okay again thanks for your help so far

You know after reading this you'd swear the guy was drinking, but I was not , and have not for over 25 years since the 1st marriage, but lets not go there, as I really was hoping to get some help with this stuff.

I know it's in the manual's and Follow ups , but as ttated before I tried to read them, and did a read thru as they call it, but real life using them in practice is another thing.

I could really use the logic again from the following please, line selections from this to that and why? Please

1. Turf to Poly and or Dirt, which is ok?

2. Route to Sprint and or Sprint to Route whoch is okay and why, please
Does turf or poly or dirt change either of these scenario's

3. What scenario have you found not in the Follow ups or manual that you now feel warrants a pass or allows for you to dig back into the older pacelines(up to and beyond a year's layoff or so ) and play the , where normally you'd pass automatically, or have now chosen to pass automatically, where you use to play?

4. Now I know this could be all mute as each of us play different tracks and different tracks do different things, different Bias's as bullrings are different than the longer oval tracks and then the downhill turf of SA, etc.. You know what I mean, so maybe you'd be willing to share the track too.

I have always been a avid player of the larger tracks because of the larger pools associated with them, like NY, So. Fla, and SoCal, and then the nite track at MTR, that has been my favored tracks thruout time, and unless someone shows me to play this track because they found this to work well there, then I would look at it, but that does not happen in horse racing, fews people share what they found, and I understand why, and then I go and ask anyway, but we could keep it on the sly if you wanted, or poast it here for all of RDSS to see, I myself do not mind sharing , and I can explain why.

Why , when you tell a horse player how to do something he does better than he does it himself, he seems to automatically have this thing called an ego pop up and prevent him from actually listening to you and then do what you suggested, even something as simple as bet post 1,2 and 3 at GP on all Turf Routes 9 and longer, avg mutuel over 9.80, they would still not do it, go figure.

Wel I gotta run

Don't mix surfaces particularly TURF and DIRT or even with POLY no matter what the manufacturers say.

Sprint/Route...the interchanged doesn't matter. Just match the horses to the fastest intermediate time they did well against. That would mean using very few routes in sprints (happens at a few regularly like Philly Hastings) but the other way round in OFTEN okay. You cannot know how a horse can do in projection against the fastest possible pace that has been accomplished by a horse in today's race unless you match that line to his.

Go back and find where a horse faced SIMILAR to today's best intermediat pace. If they did it once, and their form cycle is not going backwards, they can do it again no matter HOW FAR BACK you have to go to find it!!

layoffs: just use their best and see it if matches up like I did in that Hastings race I posted the other day. They are freshened and can probably run.

DON'T let handicapping influence passing a race only VALUE

2nd call

The KEY to pace evaluation is how a horse did, versus the PACE PROJECTED today at the 2nd call.

If a horse cannot meet and/or overcome that second call: THEY WON'T win pure and simple

Beware slow early paces.

It is the FULCRUM akin to Pizzolla that is the key to pace. Remerber it takes TWO units of early LATE to make up each unit of energy lost to the 2nd call

EVERYTHING: EP SP Avg Pace circulates around this fulcrum part of the rac

Thanks for the replys Tim

I can not get out of my mind a discus thrower, turning and turning, and then releasing at just the right moment, letting the momentum to help propell the disc as far as possible, I know truckers are a strange bunch, but I keep using other things to help me understand stuff, and Pace takes alot of different analogies for me to get it, and then sometimes I miss it, to get back to reply, am I right that, as Doc use to state the 2nd call, or is this the "Hidden Fraction", being referred to here ??, I always think that this call is at the point of the race coming around the corner, getting ready to run to the wire and having that slingshot of power to make that run , having allowed themselves the energy to finish with enough power to hold on or pull away, which ever may be the case.

I know this analogy may not make sense to many but for me, I see or try to see if a horse has the energy left at that turn, (also the this point varies depending on the race and track), as I have perviously written , that I have been finding horses that did not have the energy to finish and would lose by a nose, remember that post, so hopefully with practice and more practice I may learn to evauluate if a horse has the energy coming into the stretch drive.

PACE, knowing without a doubt where each horse is thru-out the race is a rare talent, ( getting it right that is), and I would like to learn that and be better equipped to predict the finish as well as the 2nd call and the 1st call too, and I do sometimes, but mostly have the finish predicted, and I think I should start trying to predict the 2nd call point and follow how well this may help me predict the entire race. Knowing if I got a lone speed horse, or a definite speed duel brewing and thus making the SP and Late horses to come clean up after the others exhaust their energy dueling , now enough, as I must drive, more later, sorry.

I drove truck for Allied, and United Van Lines for nine years to pay for school. One of my favorite jobs ws moving the 49ers and often the visitors.

Once moved the Steelers. They were late and we had to take their luggage to the hotel. "Wait till you meet Hollywood Bags!" they all told me. L.C. Greenwood had brought 5 suitcases and they were to be in town two days. "I never know what I want to wear" was his response.

2nd call is at least 52+% of the race and at a mile it is 75%

Truckers: Not a nutty group just a lonely one

Numbers worth paying attention to, and okay some are nutty, but LONELY is an absolute, todays drivers are not what they use to be, no comraderie today, plus everyone is being pushed so hard they barely have time to
" Tinkle " , let alone sit and BS, everyone wants it there yesterday and

I am in jeopardy of losing my job now because of my weight and the fact that I will not drive 24hrs anymore, no more deliver at 6am , hand unload, done by 1100 am , drive 3-4 hrs to next pick up, get there at 4pm and get out at 7-8pm and they want it 500-600 miles by 9am the next day, sorry My Cape is retired, no Superman here anymore, and inthis economy, I am worried a little bit, what will I do, if I get out , or forced out of the truck, play the ponies, would love to but.... we all know how tough this game is, and I am not ready for that, may never be, but I do keep trying to get better, but not really to become professional, maybe a contest player, as that really appeals to me, but unlike Nascar, I have no Sponsor to pay my way, yet, but do feel that I am good enough now to play with the big boys, win ??, maybe , but play with them yes, of course, but does being a tourney player support
ones-self well enough to survive thru-out the year, I am unsure.

Dang I do get carried away and so quickly too, sorry guys, losing my job is weighing on my mind a little bit, this info just came in Thursday, when I refused to drive all night, and explained that I use a CPAP Machine, well I have one, but use it , not really, and I should, but the mask is too uncomfotable, I need a new one that fits better, but that requires to do as this one was donated to me and it does not come with a prescription, and withput one I can not get replacement parts, how bogus is that, and the Clinic that diagnosed me and tested me went pout of business in Memphis, so what now I can not afford over 3 grand for a new test and prescription, not now, Isn't life grand, I do so much love it, really I do, not sarcastic here

Sleep apnea is often a reversible condition based heavily on the bronchial channels not being impinged by obstructions. I have a friend 320 lbs. who eliminated his need for diabetic meds and his breathing machine by getting a gasrtic bypass with subsequent loss of many pounds.

I know about working all day and all night: just be a resident for a year at a major hospital, not to mention al the "practice" I received driving cross country running dual log books

Yes Sir, I was told lose about 250lbs and everything would be alright again, well that's easy for them to say, seen anyone lately who lost 250lbs, not me either.

I have no support sytem in place, just plain old me,( this really is an excuse, just so you know, as I do ) and on the road all the time makes for a recipe for disaster, except, that today I just lost my one and only job because I explained to them I had sleep apena, and could not work 24-36hrs straight anymore, they let me go, yep , and now the Parent company is going to try and see if I can haul can's out of the Carolina's for them, and I really do not like the Carolina's , no tracks down there, IF AND ONLY IF, I passsed another DOT Physical with the Doc knowing of my sleep apnea before hand, well I did pass it and was given a 1year DOT card instead of the normal 2 year dot card, but passed I did, so now I wait to see what happens, pretty streesful when you finally find a company to make money with and then they let you go, out of the blue like this, rather legal or not, that does not matter,I was let go, and now must wait to see if they will put me on hauling can's ( containers...can's ) out the port of Charleston and the surronding area's...

Only 2 payments left for this truck to be mine, be a shame to lose it now, as it is both my livelyhood and my home too, kinda scary , to me it is, as I have no control over these things, but not telling them about my sleep apnea, that I will not not do, they need to know, as I have a machine in my truck to use when I sleep, thou the mask is very very uncomfortable, leaves red marks for hours after waking, but was also told do not use if only napping for an hour or 2, which lately was all I could do to keep up with the demands of this new company.

I need a company where I run hard during the day, giving me about 12-15 hours to run and and a few to sleep at night when I can't stay awake anyomre, like after 10-11pm, but can be up at 4-5am and running again, is that not okay, nope it isn't , and they let me go, I need a Day Job, driving during daylight hours and I will be fine, but finding that is for me really tough to do, in 10years I haven't found it yet, but keep looking for it all the time, but it too must pay something too, not a fortune mind you , just an honset wage thats all I ask, I'm not driving truck to get rich, the ponies are for that, lol, I just need enoughto pay my bills and stash alittle for get aways, like the Spa this august and fishing once in awhile in Alaska or Florida for a few days, but those scenarios have not been able to happen now for the last 6 years, and this either it looks like now, oh well there's always next year , right????

Sorry I went on and on again, well it is a touchy subject for me, and I feel a little better getting all written out to see it and they say that helps you, how who knows, but I did it anyway...
