Bill,
Thanks for P & C.

Shoe,
Thanks for posting this horse with the "Big Win".
It made me go back and look at just what a "Big Win" is.
Going to one of my favorite sources, Scott's "Total Victory At The Track" on page 95 under Stretch Performance it is described as "won his last race by three lengths or more without losing ground in the ground in the stretch,"and "must not have led at the second call by more than two lengths."

Also this horse had not run for over two months and his last work out was 43 days ago.

According to Scott this horse would have had all the warning flags flying.

I find contender selection and pace line selection to be a lot easier after the race for some reason.

I love your posts.

Froggy,Thanks, you give some good insights as well.I didnt even like that horse in the race so I shouldnt have put him in the computer in the first place. As Brohammer says only put horses in that you think are contenders to win today's race.Scott's book that you mentioned is a good read.Shoeless

Hi Bill. If Doc is helping you out. Concentrate on what he is telling you. Because now is your moment of learning and you do not want to lose that.

I am learning at a slow pace but I am learning. Before I concentrated on Early horses now I am starting to look at OTE. Its difficult, but I am getting better and better everyday. I now know which races to stay away from.

If Doc is helping you focus on what he is telling you and believe me it will pay off. The Hat and Richie have helped me alot. Two weeks ago I had the BEST BETTING WEEK OF MY LIFE. I HAVE BEEN BETTING RACES FOR OVER 30 YEARS AND IT WAS THE BEST WEEK EVER. LAST WEEK IT WAS SO, AND SO. I WAS TOO HIGH AND I HAD TO COME DOWN BACK TO EARTH.

IN 15 RACES I MUST HAVE CAUGHT OVER 10 RACES THAT PAID BETWEEN $14 AND $51 betting ONE HORSE.

And that is the reason I am not posting as much. I am learning and when I have questions I ask Jim or Richie. So, have a happy JOURNEY LEARNING.

Some general comments "Admins Post"

Bill;

Continue what you're doing. Not to put words in your mouth, nor to attribute my personal bias to you, but it appears from reading your post, that you're sorting through things as only YOU can.

One of the most difficult aspects of adapting to any handiapping methodology, is to work within the confines of who YOU are! We don't radically change when we became Sartinistas; subtle permutations do occur, so subtle we often don't recognize them. But in the end, we are who we always have been. Our challenge is to expand right to the edge of those personal limits; and then possibly beyond, a change so subtle, that when it does occure, we'll probably be unaware of it.

It's happened to me, and probably to you as well; someone else had to point it out. Keep applying the measured and methodical procedures that you detailed in your post, this is who you are; it's so different from who I am, and what I do, but certaintly no MORE nor LESS effective. And this is as it should be.

Regards,
Chris

Jeff, I read that also and it was mentioned several times in the Sartin Seminars by Tom Brohamer, Jim Bradshaw, and other instuctors. Do not put a horse in the computer unless you are willing to bet it.

Pretty much what you stated and I think it is very good advice. Thanks for bringing up an important point.
