Speed

That's pretty cool. Also runs a little faster on the early side. Speed ratings wise. Every other race

Since every race in Gallant Son's pp's was longer than (today's) 5 fur distance, he'll run late today, IMO. AT least that's how I'd play it if I was making a wagercapping decision based on running style.

I deliberately did not look at the results or charts so could you please tell us how this race (and the horse) unfolded?

Thanks.

Other than the start, where he was fifth, Gallant Son was eighth of eight going all the way around the track.

Thank you Clore for the update.

IMO, the mile turf race in last start dulled this horse's speed enough to not make him a contender the other day. I believe he'll be a better contender in his next start at 5 fur. if that's where Gallant Son runs next.

We should do more races like this to help all of us to 'see' how we must think through a horse's chances regardless of the computer programs reports.

You're quite welcome. I was curious also but the horse showed less than I expected that he would. I thought that perhaps he was as an old author put it JOFE (Scott Flohr, "Handicapping to Win").

Just Out For Exercise.

I figured that maybe there would be a bit more early lick, that this would have been a five furlong workout at the public's expense.
