work

Bill,Have you ever considered getting in a new line of work? You are still a young guy ,as for me closing in on 55 years old I think the job opportunities are slowing closing.
Hi

I'm going to post my answer on Pace and Cap
I think maybe some others would like to know my thoughts

I gave up thinking about work a few years ago
I think it was about the time when I had not heard from Doc for awhile and Rich was not around Things in my home life had gone so bad I feared for people who made me upset
My life hit rock bottom

I can't really say what change except I always did well at the track, Using Val 3.As long as I just put myself back in Doc's office in my mind

I realize when things went bad that I could still be a good guy

At a point I decided that I would not worry about work and being not good enough and living like a bum
I would just focus on winning . I took a new attitude that nobody at work mattered. I would just do my job and work and practice my handicapping to get ahead .

Funny thing happened the company I work for. It went through many changes. My boss went from a good guy who always liked me as a friend and treated me like a brother to
a beaten man in terrible debt and in trouble with 5 times as many employees as when I started.

I have seen many people come and go and I really never thought to much about them
because my mind was on Doc ,The track and winning using the methodology
My boss thought I was just being a company man since he would often still come talk to me like in the old days as a friend
He would thank me for my attitude and not being like the others
I let him think that but in reality Lots of things bugged me I just never thought to much about it .
I just work to pay my expenses I make my extra 'S from money I win at the track
In 20004 I started VDC and now Pace and Cap It takes a lot of time to keep this site going
I have that now to take my mind off work

I have a great lady friend who wants nothing to do with racing or any gambling but she knows what I'm about She and I have a very unique arrangement but I also am lucky there because I know what I want this time around as my first(and only) marriage failed

anyway to answer your question No I am content with my job I will do it as long as I have to I will put in my time and then get out, By then I will be able to supplement my income nicely with the methodology

and I will be on my way

Bill

Jeff,

I just turned 60 recently and in the handicapping community, niether one of us gets to call ourselves old. I got laid off from what I hope will be my last JOB a little over two and a half years ago.

Since then, I've done yard work, some hustling and some bartering and a few more things that I won't talk about. My handicapping isn't where I want, but has been generally profitable and I'm gaining on it.

The thing is, you redefine opportunity, reassess your skills, and somehow, the wolf stays away from the door. Don't define yourself by a job. Opportunity is where you find it and what you make of it.

Now, my 92 year old mother is starting to get old.

Dick,Good food for thought. My Mom is 87 and we are now in the process of putting her into assisted living. She has lived the same building for over 40 years so the transition wont be easy to say the least.Jeff
