Trackmaster continues to disapoint me

Post positions were drawn yesterday afternoon for the cup. They know that their customers are chomping at the bit to get started and they couldn't get them out for us to wake up to.DRF did it with ease... I guess a 50% price hike wasn't enough for them to improve their service.

You are so RIGHT ON, they NEVER have pp's on time. They need a tracks ML, from what I've seen posted somewhere. Give me a Break, many ML's aren't worth the price of bubble gum. Handicappers want pp's especially with such a BIG event like the Breederes Cup. Extemely frustrating to say the least. To use our software of choice, we are locked into their way or No way.
Got me by the shorthair, and it hurts, LOL. Have a great weekend with the Cup All.

They do!

The PP publication timeframe explained to me by Jim Vanderbosch at TrackMaster is that each track has a schedule with Equibase which determines at what cut-off date (i.e. after Post Positions and Morning Line assigned) PPs will be generated. I think this schedule is at least somewhat influenced by the track management itself. Larger tracks (e.g. SoCal, NYRA) tend to have a shorter lead-time (e.g. 24-48 hours max before race date) because this gives time for more workouts and trainer/jockey stats to be included - which supposedly is more interesting to bettors at major venues than at smaller ones (don't know why, though). Smaller tracks can have PPs available several days in advance, but with fewer workouts. TrackMaster doesn't normally re-update PP files after first issue to include subsequent workouts, except when errors are discovered.

Thus, for some tracks, the TrackMaster files often have more workouts showing than in the same card issued by Bris or DRF a day (or more) earlier. I know this is not interesting to some, but on aggregate to Equibase's users, I guess it is.

I would not normally ever expect to see a Santa Anita Saturday card available on a Wednesday - so someone is trying to get their act together.

Take a deep breath. Post Positions drawn Tuesday afternoon, PPs available Wednesday morning for a weekend card doesn't sound that bad to me. Maybe they didn't know you wake up at 4:00 in the morning.

Well good for you Dick. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. I expect a bit more come the big racing days. DRF gets them out so there is no reason whatsoever that Trackmaster shouldn't have gotten them out last night. I would expect a little more give the massive price increase they hit us with this year..

Hi Ted... Thanks for the update... Any thoughts on why Spec160 consistently disses Curlin ?

Jim,

Did you have the '"disrespect Curlin setting" turned on? (Just kidding).

Do you mean in Saturday's BC Classic race only, or also in some of his previous races? If the former - well, Go Between and Tiago have some great energy disbursement numbers, though Curlin did all his work against better competition, IMO, and is way more consistent (in the win column). His lower ranking wouldn't necessarily stop me from betting on him if I were to bet one horse, which I seldom do.

If you meant Curlin's previous races, sorry I didn't work them all, and of the few I did, I don't really recall where he ranked on the main readouts. Surely top 3 at least!?

Ted

Both Ted.. If I recall he didn't rank too highly last time and his SR numbers don't give him his due as the best horse in the country.. Don't get me wrong I am not dissing Spec as it finds bombs on a consistent basis. I handicapped Fridays Card and Good Gawd is it pointing to some juicy scores (top 2 BL/BL). If history is any indicator at least one of those bombs will score and 1 could very well make the weekend... As far as Curlin goes, he is an obvious include in my exotics on top but offers no value as a win.. One thing I have noticed this OSA meet. Nearly all winners have previously won on a synthetic surface and those that have won first time synthetic have fired a synthetic bullet.. Curlin does not meet those conditions. One caveat is I haven't watched too closely the last week as I am getting ready for the cup. May the Horse be with you this weekend.

I think Curlin is just one of those oddball horses who will not look strong on RDSS no matter what line you may use. Looking at last years BC Classic, I had him ending up in the third tier, and this year he doesn't fare as well ending up as 4th tier for my weird handicapping.

Some horses look great on the form, and will not show on RDSS, could be they are just winning on Class, and can fool all the pace cappers. Doesn't happen that often, but there aren't many hairs left on my head, and the scratching is starting to leave marks.

Good Luck All
