Foxwoods

I was wondering if anyone on board has been to Foxwoods and could give me some info on it.Is there a major airport near by I dont feel like making a 9 hr driving trip. Also are there any big differences between staying in the Great Cedar Hotel and the Two Tree Inn.I know at the Two Tree you have to take a bus to the casino. The dates I was looking at there was nothing available at the Grand Hotel, also nothing on MGM which they are building. Thanks Shoe

We like the Two Trees alot better---not that far away and there are constant shuttles.
--We also think the Mohican Sun is alot nicer.
--about 10 miles away.
--Let me know when you're going.

I've never been to Foxwoods so I can't compare but I'd give a big thumbs up to the Mohican Sun which I've been to 2 or 3 times.

Nice rooms, nice facilities, very good restaurants. Neither of us is a shopper so I can't tell you about that part though there are a lot of shops.

We've always been there in the fall mid-week on our way from Maine to NJ and a standard room was about $200 2 years ago. I don't know about weekends or other times of the year.

It's not far from Norwich but I've never been to Norwich. My guess is the town is not much but that is total speculation and I'll apologize in advance to any Norwich-philes I might have offended .

I've been to Foxwoods about a zillion times. Have always driven past The Mohegan Sun cause' I like to play poker.

Your wife will certainly have more fun shopping at Foxwoods. And she'll definitely enjoy the spa.

I recommend booking a room at the Grand Pequot Tower and prepaying with American Express. That way if you're bumped (which happens more frequently than you'd think) they'll put you up in a complimentary suite next door at The Grand. Call me silly, but I appreciate the amenities of a free suite!

Also, taking a shuttle is not for me. Believe me, you're going to be doing plenty of walking and waiting as it is. Who needs the hassle of commuting when you can stay there?

And here's a heads up -- you can't bring your laptop into the race book!

David,Finding on the weekends in the summer there are no rooms available at Grand Pequiot.Maybe it has something to do with getting an AARP rate.Jeff

you know

vegas very often offers free rooms and reduced airfares for vacationers, and the shopping there is superb, some of the best malls in the world.

seems about the same price for something better and far more exotic.
