SpeedPlus and XTOR Conversion and Save As Abilities - Pace and Cap

Is there anyone who might have an idea on how to make the "SpeedPlus program", which was designed for the Windows 95 format , work in a Windows XP environment.
I have a registered copy but can't get it to run with XP.

I have written George Green, the creator of this program, and asked for an update or a new version.

The reason, I am Hot on this program is because it has the abilty to save files in both the old and the new Sartin formats. which could come in very handy.

I am also working with XTOR which can also save to the RAC format and eliminate the need for the more expensive "Hat" files. You can use the generic DRF files with this. but you will have to pick the appropriate pacelines. Also, the graphics are terrible and is almost unreadable.
XTOR will not run with "TAME" in synthetic DOS mode, under XP

I am surprised that some of the skilled programmers on this site did not incorporate any type of conversion or "save as" features in their software. Possibly, they might even consider a stand alone program of this type.

Have you tried right-click on icon, select properties, compatibility mode, then select win95 and save? I do not own the program, but it is just a thought.

Jim, It's a good thought that hadn't occured to me.
If it works, and if you wish, I'll send you a copy
George Greene doesn't answer his email or answer the phone
so I'm assuming he isn't active anymore or possibly lost all his money betting horses and pulled the plug.

As always, I appreciate your help and input.

I think its not to difficult to write program that would generate Val M files from Bris single file format. Or is what your looking for more in line with the real old stuff like the files you have been saving from Aodds?

Steve, I have a copy of Val M and from what I can recall, it is a manual input program that does have the capabilities to save the file that was created.

Speedplus uses DRF files and once you have picked your pacelines the program gives you the ability to save it in a format that is compatible with
most Sartin programs (New or Old Format).
This gives you the ability to by-pass the Aodds data files which as you know cost twice the price of the generic DRF file.
The value of a program that does these conversions would superceed the intial cost of the program.
SpeedPlus went for about $ 150.00.

While you are correct that Val M was or is a manual input program, the data you type in and save via Val M is just a simple binary data file. The data from the form is the same as in the Bris Single files. As long as the binary data file is saved into the Val M folder and is made in the same format as Val M makes its files, the program will read it and work. Its a interesting idea to say the least because Val M still works dead nuts, on target, I know this because my wife likes the program. But the second part of the question is your really interested in the other older match up, and so on files.

I tried it but without success. I guess I'll have to look for an old laptop
that has a Windows 95 or Windows 98 operating system.

FWIW, I am making my RDSS program SaveAs a RAC file for use in Energy (along with the standard Excel, CSV, etc, etc).

Ted, That would be a welcomed feature in your software, Hopefully, it will give you the option to save files in both the newer and older Sartin Formats.

You might also want to consider an option that would convert the Trackmaster files into a BRIS format that can be used with all programs
that use BRIS data files. Something similar to AXLATE but more universal.
Please keep me informed as to when any of these options will be available.
Hopefully, it will be soon.
