The Great Ray Taulbot-Way Ahead of His Time

Since today is Father's Day,let's not forget the Father of Pace Analysis. His original Pace Calculator Slide Rule is now at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History...

"It did not use beaten lengths. It used the second call and final time of the race itself, never the horse. The ability of the horse's pace and final time was measured against the pace of the race by the calculator's use of the speed rating.

His concept...A winning horse either sets or overcomes the pace of the race it runs against."

This brought back a lot of memories. I use to walk past Bastian Brothers every day on my way to grade school. They were noted for making promotional products, political pins and novelties. The company still exists - it was consolidated with a facility the company had in Phelps, NY.

American Turf Monthly lists the Pace Computer software but does not have an order now button. You might try calling the 800 number.

https://www.americanturf.com/booksto...id=220&secid=4

Last month there was a copy which sold. Periodically it shows up there.

It is a nice little piece of software, It is limited to 32 bit machines and xp so it needs to be run in a virtual box.

Good Luck

Other Ted

The negatives....no odds line
Stay away from the very obvious m/l favorites that the public looks for...i don't bet any top horse at less than 2/1 at 2 min to post.No control after that when the betting stops.
I don't know how it performs in high allowance races and stakes races, turf sprints and routes as i do not play them.
