Software Download

Here is the latest version of the Leverage/Pace pre-release testing software:

https://cdn.trackmaster.com/RdssInst...5.03.2025).exe

As usual - if your browser complains during or after download, follow the steps for each browser to tell it that the downloaded file is safe. For example, if there are elipses ... next to the downloaded file, or some options to choose 'Keep' - then choose those. When you run the downloaded RDSS Installer file, if Windows complains about the Install program, choose options which indicate "More info ...', 'Run anyway ...' etc. The Install program is scanned for viruses and is always safe.

Please see the latest post below for updates to Documentation -

Here is the latest version of the Leverage/Pace pre-release testing software:

[please see the latest version further below]

Note: if you installed the immediately previous version 22.2024.06f, please update to this one - 22.2024.06g - it corrects a couple of serious bugs.

New Contents:

- Quick Race Results and prices for WPS, Exacta and trifecta pools are reinstated. These show currently on Rx and Leverage/Pace screens (more screens later)
- results come from TrackMaster
- this requires the TrackMaster Bundle data plan
- if the race has been run today or in the past ~2 days, when assembling, RDSS will check for results. Results older than 2 days ago are not available as 'Quick Results' (upcoming Full Result Charts will provide more previous results).
- Excel exports again include the results as well as the prices.
- Exacta and Trifecta prices are converted to $1, regardless of the minimum unit and the corresponding price shown on Result Charts.
- Superfecta, Quinella, Daily Double, Pick 3-4-5-6 prices to follow

Here is an update to RDSS with the Leverage/Pace module:

[please see the latest version further below]

This update is about a three-quarters-way deposit on the Excel export - modelling upgrade, which alas is not quite ready.

Included items:

1. The Pace Bias readouts are more or less reversed from previously: Late is BLUE, Early is RED, Neutral is PURPLE. The points system and bias interpretation is unchanged.

2. Pace Bias readout on the Rx and NewPace screens is as on the Leverage/Pace screen: the coloured bias number (according to bias groups) on a white background. This display will eventually be on all Analysis screens.

3. When you assemble races, the Pace Bias now shows on the Card Summary screen. Eventually this will load immediately, but right now - like with the FTS count - you have to assemble first.

4. The NewPace screen is now automatically sorted according to the Pace Bias - sort by Low-range when Late/Pressured; sort by High-range otherwise (Neutral or Early/Unpressured). You can always re-sort by whatever you like on NP, but these are the new defaults: no need to sort during KEY interpretation process.

5. The KEY Contender value now exports for use in Excel models (value=11 in Contender Group+ Col EE)

6. You can select a KEY horse from the KEY Contenders by clicking on one of the BLUE arrows (KEYs) - which changes to a RED arrow. This marks a Selected KEY. This will Export to Excel with value=15 in Contender Group+ Col EE.

These export values for KEY Contenders (11) and Selected KEY (15) are in service of having data in the Excel database to eventually filter and analyze races by these choices.

7. There is a new Excel Template file in the \Models\ folder: Model.Database.2024.xlsx This template is not quite ready for prime-time but has the columns corrected for the layout of the Excel export created by RDSS. There will be numerous examples of customized sheets which answer various kinds of specific questions - presumably including every kind of customized sheet layout we are currently working with.

Again - more to follow soon on the Export module - but for now, you can import your exported Excel files into a copy of this new template and put ALL ROWS (not just 1st and 2nd place finishers) into the first Data sheet. The subsequent sheets will simply filter and sort from the entire row population of the Data sheet (the 'database').

If you want to continue using the existing MasterTemplate6 until the new template file is working - feel free - it should all be portable.

8. The Export Data button on the (for now) Rx and Leverage/Pace screens replaces the previous Export Icon. One major difference - now when you export a single race, the export is also placed in the Cache (as well as where it has always been in the Models folder). On the Card Summary screen, you will see an Export button at the far right with check-marks by the races you have marked for Export. At any point, you will be able (soon, not in this release ) to export ALL marked races at once into one big export file for the whole day (or many races/multiple tracks on the My Races screen). You can then import all these races at once into the Master Template file, rather than many individual races. RDSS will offer to open both the export sheet and the Master Template Excel sheet to make it even easier to add data to your Excel data models. (Eventually, RDSS will just add the exported data to the Master Template by itself - no copying required).

For now - you need to use the existing method to get data into your Excel models. Next RDSS update will bring all these new model options, along with various examples of model layouts. I am working with as many different layouts of sheets you all have sent me to make this new system accommodate what we have been working with all along - only better (hopefully!)

Good luck - feedback welcomed!

Here is a new update to RDSS - V22.2024.06k

The main additions to this are the new Model Export features demonstrated in the video tutorial I just posted - here: http://paceandcap.com/forums/showthread.php?p=155247

Download this update here: [please see the latest post below for the latest Leverage/Pace testing version]

A new blank Model Template is included in the c:\Rdss22\Models\Templates\ folder - Model.Database.2024-V1.0 (TEMPLATE-Make a Copy!).xlsm

As usual (and the name cheekily implies ) - make a COPY of this and place it in your Models folder - name is something useful, e.g. Model.Database.2024-V1.0 My Models.xlsm (or even more descriptive).

This file is Macro-enabled - it has an Import Data! button and a macro which make importing Excel files exported from RDSS a breeze! To open this sheet and use those new features - you must give file permission to run it. In your c:\Rdss22\Models\Templates\ folder, right-click on the file name then choose Properties from the popup menu. You will get this Dialog:

Name:  File Propertes.jpg
Views: 793
Size:  43.8 KB

Check the Unblock box to give Windows permission to open this file in Excel, then click Apply then OK.

Now you should be able to run this Excel Macro-enabled worksheet - and RDSS should be able to open it as well, as shown in the tutorial video.

If any problems getting this Excel sheet with macros to run - please post your problem descriptions here and we'll try to help.

Good luck and enjoy - a new world of data modelling awaits - this is just exploring the beginning!

In this recent update - I have not yet been able to fix bugs related to Cached races created in older versions of RDSS. We saw that races first assembled in say, the public version (RDSS 2.2.2024.66.05 - June 14, 2024) will cause the software to crash when you try to load them in these newer versions (some screens have incompatible new Cache file-formats compared to the older saved files inthe Cache).

You must re-assemble older races in order to work with them in the new versions of RDSS. If you don't, the software will crash. Alas, when you re-assemble, you will lose any chosen pacelines and contender filtering you may have chosen. If you don't want to lose this info by re-assembling those older races, you can wait for a future version which can also load those older stored Cached races. Sorry about that (Tim ...)

P.P.S - I am leaving on a travel vacation now until Oct 26. I will be able to check in from time to time, but not do any programming or respond as quickly as I usually do.

Good luck everyone with this new update and testing the new Model Sheet!

Notes about the current RDSS L/P version 22.2025.01b

Here are added features or bugs fixed, followed by things which still need to be added.

Please make the following Config Settings changes:
  • Check the Get Tote/Scratches box on the Config Screen and restart RDSS. See Notes Point #4 below on what this affects. Tote data itself does not currently display (though returning soon), but checking this setting prevents certain bugs.
Notes
  1. Now compatible with Cached files created in previous versions of RDSS – i.e. the public version RDSS 2.2.2024.66.05 - June 14, 2024 or early versions of the Leverage/Pace series. Please test by loading previously assembled races created say, prior to May 2024. Success = not crashing!

  2. TwinSpires Ratings can now be downloaded for the Current Day’s races via the Data Centre. Check the Download TwinSpires Ratings box. When checked, during the Convert process, RDSS fetches the TwinSpires Ratings file from TwinSpires for every race. This implementation is an interim one - so that when retrieving ALL race cards for the day, you can ensure you have the TwinSpires Ratings for that card without having to Assemble each card on that day just to fetch those TwinSpires Ratings. Once you have the TwinSpires Ratings in a file, you can later go back and assemble the races and have those ratings. With this – RDSS users can always have a complete historical library of TwinSpires Ratings for whatever cards they download – as long as you remember to fetch them before the next day.

    This is an interim functionality to fetching TS Ratings in the Data Centre. Right now, if you want to fetch those TS Ratings more than once per day (i.e. at the beginning of the day to work today's races, then again at the end of the day/evening to catch any scratches or ratings updates for historical purposes) - you must UNCHECK the Don't Duplicate box. The TS Ratings are fetched for current day races during the Convert Task and if you have done the Convert Task already, RDSS will skip it unless you specifically ask to do it again (i.e. DO Duplicate Tasks). Final functionality will be to fetch the TS Ratings in the same way as Results - always check for updated versions, independent of the Convert Task.

  3. Key and Selected Key horses are now shown on more Analysis screens (not quite all of them, though), including Entries and NewPace screens (not the Positional Analysis). In addition to the blue and red arrows, the horse names are also coloured blue and red.

  4. The problem - reported by Bill - with assembling tomorrow’s races late at night on West Coast time, yet fetching the previous day’s still remnant TwinSpires Ratings (thus screwing up all horse listing displays) – is resolved by checking the Get Tote box on the Config screen. This also enables a newly appearing (though very old module) on the Sidebar bottom, labelled Tote Boards, which governs RDSS knowledge of each race track’s general day’s activities (post times, number of races, etc).

  5. The Leverage/Pace Analysis screen now defaults to Rx3 for initial sort.

  6. If the Mutuel Results are retrieved via the Leverage/Pace screen, the finish order will also appear on the Entries screen to the left of the Contender check boxes. Ultimately, full Results will appear on every Analysis screen as they do on the L/P screen – AND will appear in a more full form at the bottom half of the Entries Screen.

  7. NewPace is now available to all users (only noticeable to users who previously did not have NewPace turned on for their accounts).

  8. Certain TrackMaster Data and Software Subscription testing stuff which is only visible to me (pending TrackMaster taking over from me the RDSS Software Subscription hopefully by end of Q1, freeing me of that management work).
Looking forward to everyone's testing feedback on this new version. We are about 1 or 2 updates away from expanding testing of Leverage/Pace and the Excel Model stats to a wider circle of testers before releasing this RDSS update to a wider audience.

Good luck!

Ted

RDSS Update

Here is the latest RDSS update for testing:

https://cdn.trackmaster.com/RdssInst...2.06.2025).exe

Included

1. Extra code to double-check integrity when fetching TS Ratings 9and soon tote data) from TwinSpires

2. When using the Premium/Bundle Data plan - Results and Prices now also appear on the Entries Screen, along with markups showing the Key and Selected Contenders among the Top 4 Finishers.

I would like to know from all testers whether there are any significant bugs outstanding in your testing - both of the RDSS software itself and for the Excel Model. This is a candidate RDSS release I would make available for an expanded round of testers.

Next

1. add a few more interesting queries to the Excel Model

2. post an updated Excel Model for viewing/testing with ~2300 races

3. clean up this Forum a bit, add a few more tutorial videos

4. add some documentation for NewPace

5. expand the testing group by another dozen or so regular users.

6. get Tote data working again

7. after more feedback - prepare to release Leverage/Pace to all existing RDSS users

Comments most welcomed! Thanks so much everyone for your testing and success with RDSS Leverage/Pace!

Exclamation Updated May 3, 2025

Here is the latest RDSS software update. For all Leverage/Pace testers, could you please download and install this version and let me know if any significant Bugs or omissions.

This is the version with which I would like to expand the early testing group to a few dozen. Based on your feedback through the coming weekend, I'll either update it again if needed, or make a public invitation to join in the 'soft roll-out' of RDSS Leverage/Pace so I can get feedback from more different users' perspective and computing environments.

https://cdn.trackmaster.com/RdssInst...5.03.2025).exe

Here are items fixed or updated in this release, prior to a wider roll-out of the software:

1. Fixed Results display when fewer than 5 runners (SA, looking at you!)

2. Fixed Results display when a coupled entry (1A, 2B, 3X ...) finishes 1st, 2nd or 3rd. previously, and for the longest time, RDSS has excluded finish position and results for such finishers (typically the #1A horse)

3. Added Results and Finish Position to several other screens - now including Entries, NewPace, Original, Segments, BL/BL, Rx and Leverage/Pace

4. Made Get Tote = CHECKED on the Configure Screen the default setting. While Tote data is not yet available, this setting helps RDSS prevent Entries screen 'jumble' when you assemble the next day's races in the early hours when TS Ratings for a track have not yet rolled forward to the next day's edition. If your Get Tote setting is UNCHECKED, I recommend CHECKing it, Save then restart.

5. VPB (Visual Pace Bias) readout was missing on NewPace and Original Analysis screen (on top of RS column header).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These additional items were fixed for the final public release - V22.2025.01-(05-03-2025)
1. On the Config Screen, Get Tote has the same status as Get TS Ratings (Checked or Unchecked) and is displayed but not accessible to the User.
2. Added back to the Data Centre Task list - Create Val/Spec Files. This is controlled by a setting in the Config file, [General] section, beneath all the other //Data Centre Task Settings - e.g.
Task_dnl_pp=1
Task_dnl_res=1
Add the new term Task_tmpp_disp=1 - to show the Create Val/Spec Files Task in the Task List
Omit it or use Task_tmpp_disp=0 - to hide this Task (the default = Don't show it)
3. The Data Centre Task - Download TS Ratings (TwinSpires ProfitLine & PrimePower Ratings) - appears to work normally. As always, only for the day of races (not previous or future days) and subsequent Downloads on any day appear to not skip unexpectedly over Tracks.
4. Excel Model Database updates - new Model File and version: Model.Database.2025-V1.3.xlsm. Changes to previous version (V1.2) -
- allow for blank ProfitLine and PrimePower values. Filter sheets still return rows with blank values
- added to Help Screen: "NOTE: When deleting items from the above Conditions, do not use the SPACE BAR. Instead, use DELETE or BACKSPACE keys!"
- added to Help Screen: Version Change Log
To begin using the new Version Model Database, either begin importing into this new version (found on Models folder), or copy the contents of the Data Sheet from your previous Model tot he new Model file.
5. The Blue Arrows (Key Contender markers) - did not appear correctly on all Analysis screen on different computers (when missing an installed font). Now all arrows are a big bigger and of consistent appearance.
