Synergism II Users

I have a question for some of the Synergism users out there because it has been some time since I have used this program.

What do you use for your set-up times?
Are you using the 3 year best when it asks for a track record?
When it asks if their are any shippers in the race would you consider a surface change from the same track as a shipper?

This is for some research I am trying to do for next month as I am on vacation for a week and I will have some time for this project.

Thanks for any help.-----Houndog

Houndog,
I love Syn2.
I never used a turf line for a dirt race and vice versa, as well sloppy or muddy to dry surface.
I have been use Energy with modest success. Applying the same Match up concept to Syn2, would not change the outcome of selected horses, numbers might be different tho. It is a matter of interpretation.

Pino, I was just wondering which horses you use for your set-up times. Do you use the fastest horse from your contenders that you have entered in Synergism? Probably people do this part differently.

Also when it asks for a track record do you use the 3 year track record or do you use the fastest final time of the horses you have entered?

Do you use the shipper part of the program or do you answer no to this question? Like I said it has been a long time since I have worked with this program and people may do this differently. Thanks for any help.

Houndog,
For set up times I use the Match Up concept. Establish the Dream Race
Track record I use the one listed in the result charts.
I say YES if there is a shipper in the race.
Me and Shoe (Jeff), we use to catch a few longshot only using Syn2.
I think Syn2 is the best of all the program that Doc put out, IMO, I might be wrong on this issue.

Thanks for the help. I have been reading the Older Follow-Ups on this BBS and have been finding some good information in these also. From what I have been reading the set-up times you use in Synergism are very important as it affects the susequent read-outs to a great degree. Your reply helps alot, thanks-----Houndog.

Houndog,I used the fastest time from the contenders I selected as the setup time. Also if it's a 6.5 fur race and the majority of the horses have run at 6 fur you would use that distance as your setup for the race.I know Pino will probably disagree but I found more success with Syn 4 over Syn 2.Keep an eye on FW,DR and TT horses that rank 1st or 2nd in all 3 do very well.Jeff

Jeff, thanks for your and Pino's help on this. If I might ask what is the difference between Syn2 and Syn4? I think starting with Syn5 Bob Purdy started using TPR ratings instead of FPS in his readouts. Jeff, this is for some research that I am going to try to do next month. Energy is still the program I use for my day to day handicapping since I am more familiar with it. Sometimes I like to look at races in FPS (sprints especially) so Synergism is a logical choice to do this.

Thanks again for your, Pino's and Richie's help on this.-----Houndog
