Doc's Psychology of Winning articles in the Follow Up are priceless and an aspect of handicapping totally ignored by most author/experts.
Yogi Berra had that wonderful phrase about "90% of the game is 50% mental", or vice versa. I know I've beaten myself a lot more often than I've been beaten by fixed races, drugging trainers, bad rides or all the many other factors handicappers blame for their losses. doc's "Do you really want to win?" is a question that handicappers should seriously consider every day. Good topic we have the tools to find winners and profit.Doc said it was 80% if not 100% psycological.
The question becomes do you want to make consistant profit or do you want the action and the buzz and rush of betting every race? |
