Projecting a pace in a mixed field of turf and dirt horses
I had a long talk with Jim regarding the title of this thread.
What follows are his "steps" to working a race where there is a mix of both turf and dirt horses. 1) Make 2 match ups. a- Match the turf horses together to find the fastest 1 or 2. b- Match the dirt horses together to find the fastest 1 or 2. 2) Now when you have the final contenders match them up line by line against one another to find the fastest one (2 if you are multiple horse bettor). ALWAYS begin your evaluation of the "fastest" with the first call (1st fraction in routes) "Hat Helper" - Quick glance at the pp's will usually show you if a turf course is much faster than the tracks dirt course. USE this info to help you evaluate who is truly fast. Richie
