Obtaining older programs - Page 2 - Pace and Cap

Thanks for the reply. In the late 70's I became aquatinted with a man in San Clemente of the name John H. Meyer.He eventually moved to San Clemente and then to State of Washington where he became friends with Jim Selvidge.
John produced a publication called The National Railbird Review and from this T.I.S (Turf Investment Society) The Publications consisted a 12 lesson Handicapping Course (c)1981.Each lesson single space from 8 to 15 pages. I Gave a copy of the course to a friend who was just getting interested in Handicapping and he started cashing more than I was.

John was consumed with interest in horseracing but not in wagering. Jim said whenever John went to the races with him, John would use his latest information he had developed, and then watch the race to see how correct his latest determinations worked.
I have my 3 ring out with all the publications John produced.

1. Besides the 12 lesson T.I.S(turf investment society) Handicapping Correspondence Course(c) 1981
2.The T.I.S Speed Report 20 pages (c)1980
3.The T.I.S Class Report60 pages (c)1982
4.The T.I.S. Pace Report 31 pages(c)1981
5.The T.I.S. Money Management Report 52 pages(c) 1983
6.Other Reports of various subects (c) from1980 thru 1987

His main thrust from the very beginning was the feet/second calculations.
His first program I bought around 1985 was for installation in the TI-59 made by Texas Instruments. It Had about 700 steps and when you turned the computer off after use, the program would have to be reinstalled. I went to the Kentucky Derby when Sonny"s Hero( I think that was the name) and expected to do well. After I worked the first race, the battery pack went bellyup and I had rely on my mediocre skills the rest of the day(not good).
Later John wrote some basic for the Radio Shack TRS-80 PC-4,then the PC_6,and then the Sharp Pocket Computer (1200 Series.
John put out cassettes that would load his 3 call Program and others of Money management ,Dutching and such.
When Sartin came out with material that use some of Johns work,John tried to contact Howard but he would not return the call.

Jim said in one my conversations with him that John got so depressed that he was afraid he might consider suicide. After these events we all lost contact with John and have no

I was looking at some of John's publications and in his 1987 Special Edition of "the New "T.I.S. 11 Method, he remarked that his first 3 Call Ratings, was sold in 1975.The first National Railbird Review was sold in March ,1978.
It's interesting that Sartin's" Pace Makes the Race" and Brohamer's "Modern Pace Handicapping" were both published in 1991.
