The result chart follows and a big congrats to Mike who has the sweet 8/1 winner in his final mix!!

Note "The Fat Man" also nails the winner as the "speed of the race" and indeed he was wiring and blasting the bunch

Thank you gentlemen....

its funny ..

it seems like when a race that is presented like this , I focus and concentrate more than if I have a whole card open...
TFM/PETE do you go through , with each race, like you did on here?
I dont, for some reason , I see multiple races coming at me on all sides making me less than thorough when I cap the card..

can you see what I'm saying???

Mike

AD....

it all starts with understanding horse racing and reading the racing form...
its all right there in black and white....how does the horse run, what class has he ran against, his record , the condition of today's race ...almost everything is important!!
I am probably a "jack of all trades" type guy...I understand RDSS, New Pace and The Match-Up...but I always resort back to the Bible...THE DRF...

in this race if you considered the 7 as an early horse , you would , off the bat, throw the whole race off.....ONE line doesnt make a horse!!!
The "TRUE" early horse will put away the one-timer most of the time..
You need to look at more than one line to identify a horses running style...
Thats step one...then you can get a reasonable projected pace to compare the rest to.

Yep, that ended up throwing things off from the get-go. I guess my eye just got drawn into that performance against FPLR and so I put that one in the E/P mix.

I do the same thing as you Mike. For the tracks I regularly follow, I go through the cards pretty quickly looking for spot plays only.

For the races posted here I follow more of a step-by-step process: Running styles projecting pace, feeling early or ote, matching the group of contenders.

That's part of why I love when these races are posted because it is valuable practice getting back to basics as well as a chance to learn new things....much needed lately as I've been pretty cold...

I got a race from Pen later I will put up, if you get a chance to look at it.

Howard Sartin always said one should study the race in the DRF prior to looking at the computer program.

bump

Saluting Stormye returns in Sunday's 4th @ WO. 6.5 furlongs, Nakatani (up from NY and Asmussen's go to rider these days) gets the mount, and there's plenty of speed in the race, unlike last time, when Zip it Nance was scratched and the winner was loose. Don't know if he's going to be value but he should be around 3:1 or so.

Will wait for scratches before considering exotics.
