Checking back in - Pace and Cap

I don't really think this deserved a thread, but it was the easiest way to post! Don't know if I like being called a Maiden Binder since I was your first member at the old site. In the words of the dear departed Mr. Dangerfield,"I get no respect" (just kidding). Glad to see most everyone's still around. I have still been working the races, just hadn't taken the time to make the jump to this board. I am currently working the WO & FE circuits. Am trying to find other profitable circuits for my style of play. My style of play being whatever makes me the most money.

As example, the TAM meet this year, I reviewed my losing bets in Feb & found I was doing horribly in routes. Bet only sprints for the rest of the meet and had an ROI 47%. At times during the WO meet, I was getting big scores (routes/sprints-no turf) but I had too long a losing streaks that kept eating into the profits. Turned out the grind was killing me, trying to make a profit on horses paying too little (too many in the $7-$16 range) with not a high enough win %. I reviewed my records & decided that I would not bet into a race where at least 1 of the top 4 contenders does not pay $20 (9/1 & up) and now have been able to turn things around. My last 25 race cycle at WO produced a 45% ROI where my previous cycles were -16% & +27%.

What I am getting at is that the same methods don't work from track to track for me & they may not for you. Some of my biggest scores at WO/FE have been routes where they were killing me at TAM.

Don't worry about the maiden title
It changes as you post, The more you post the more you move up the ladder

Very interesting post right out of the box I sort of felt the same way
now that I am working races from all over. I seem to do better
in sprints than routes at some tracks

Waiting for races with at least 1 of your contenders are over 9/1

I know I don't consider such things, but I think that route races are a lot more dependent upon the ride that the horse gets. When you follow a particular circuit you can't help but be aware of the outstanding jockeys, as well as the ones who are lucky to remain on the horse for the whole race. When you are playing all over, you lack a lot of that knowledge.

I don't use jockey stats, but I think it is helpful to at least know who the really BAD riders on a circuit are, especially in routes.
