Unfortunately, that #71 is also missing the front page. That made me a bit suspicious and I checked some of the other included Follow Ups. As I suspected, the Ebay seller downloaded all of them from our library, hacked the password protection, and used some software to remove the "Pace and Cap Members Only NOT For Resale Bindfold.com" header from each page.

Since the seller had to have the password in order to access the Follow Ups and Manuals, he either got it from you under legitimate pretenses or from another member. He included the 12 pdf documents with copies of manual versions of Pace Launcher and Synthesis that he sold on Ebay. I believe he had six for sale of each program on Ebay as he mentioned the copy protection wouldn't let him make any more copies or something like that.

Pretty piss poor, if you ask me, and it just again heightens my concern with all the great contributions that will be made available in the new library if we provide completely free and unprotected access.
How do you know they hacked the password? As I remember, someone selling them on eBay was the reason that Bill had to password protect them in the 1st place.

As I recall, at one time there was a pretty small subset of the current library up with no password protection and no "Property of...........' statement. Then some scumbag put them on eBay. It would depend on if they had newer stuff than what was available then. If not, maybe same scumbag.

I really don't - my assumption was that they were password protected and had the header from day 1 but obviously I was incorrect - I haven't been around Pace N Cap that long so didn't know the story. As to whether it's the same person, no clue. I have his Ebay seller name but that's it.

That is a good point I hope what your thinking is the case
I did think about that fact you need 2 passwords just to get
the document open Ok maybe some one could delete the security stamp
but I think the password to open the pdfs are safe

Lou can you tell me which follow ups you purchased on ebay
If they are all between 69 and 86 than Dick is probably correct

They were 69,71-73,75-80 plus the Tandem & Pace Line manuals. Did you have these up there at one time without passwords and headers?

Lou

Yes those were the original follow ups I got when I was a client
They go way back to the yahoo days of VDC Messenger
So probably the jerk that took them to sell them for a small profit on Ebay
Did you buy these follow ups recently?
If you did the loser probably can't make money at the track and lost
what he stole and now he is reloading .

A few months ago. I actually wanted to get some hard cover, non pdf copies but that auction became too expensive.
