Hi Parts,

Hope you do not mind me listing my MPH screens for the last 3 at my old stomping grounds for comparison purposes. Hope you are having a good night.

Hi Jim,

I welcome the participation.

I noticed that you are are using the Beyer numbers from the Daily Racing Form with MPH. It seems to work fairly well for you and eliminates the Variant which is included in that number.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi Parts,

I could be wrong, but when I have it on "Beyer", I believe it uses the speed figures from the Bris file, which of course already accounts for the variant. At any rate, I am not inputting the Beyer Figs into the program. Not sure what causes the "83" Beyer fig shown on the printout. I believe the use of the word "Beyer" is a holdover from at the time when MPH was first programmed, I believe the Beyer fig was used by Bloodstock Research. Then the Beyer fig was used by the Racing Times, then of course the Beyer figure went to the Racing Form.

Maybe someone more knowledgeable can clear it up for me.

Jim

PS...If you ever received any type of "instruction manual" with MPH, I would appreciate you or somebody else passing that along to me. I figured most of it out and have been pleased with my results. As with most programs of this ilk, picking the correct pace line is 2/3'rds of the battle.

I think the 83 is supposed to be the average Beyer. It may make an adjustment from this average number, but I am not sure.

Jim, I also assume you are not plugging in the fractional times as shown on your screenshots. I think these are times coming from the DLPAR.DAT file or the PAR.DAT file from within the program.

Your correct Houndog. I merely download the file (currently procaps), choose my pacelines, then examine the screen with A/P, S/P, H/E, F/X and try to bet smartly. One of the best things I learned from Bill (Admin) a long time ago was how to copy and paste dos screens into a notepad document. For some reason, I still like dos programs, perhaps because my computing experience dates that far back. I am not a fan of inputting data, though, preferring to spend my time trying to decide who/if to bet.
