Hi

I noticed that you used a line that was from 111 days ago. ( Please see the attached file).

I always assumed that you don't go deeper then 90 days but maybe I'm wrong.

Your Not wrong My answer is sometimes I do

I try not to use lines over 90 days ago but sometimes I do use them

If a horse is running in regular intervals at least 30 days but there are non comparable distances and surfaces
or the trainer puts the horse in a race way too high for its class I will go to a line thats still best of the last three

but in some cases the line will be over 90 days

What is your normal criteria for this.

I know you will go 3 lines and 90 days in most races.
and look for like lines.

Occassionally, you'll go 4 lines deep looking for a useable line.

Yes

According to the Sartin rule you can use a 5th place finish at no more then 7.5 lengths

I am troubled by this .. There is no such rule about a 5th place finish that I know of

Position is not so IMPORTANT in the Methodology

You use Sartin programs that were such that you had to hand enter

the pacelines correct?

Did you ever have to enter position calls ?? No not any I have ever seen

The programs rate the lines you enter against the dream race or pace of race
its not the pace of horse
Its which horse runs best against the Pace of Race

A horse could be 5th beaten by 3 lengths Horse don't run in linear order. Many races are won by heads necks 1/2 lengths

so are place and show and 4th place finishes photos

Lets look at it this way

here are two horses

Horse AAA runs against a pace of

22 44.4 and 109 and has beaten lengths of 2.5 2.5 3.5 5 and position 2 2 3 5
Horse BBB could finished 3rd beaten 4 lengths against a slow pace of
22.4 45.4 and 110 with a line 2,5 3 3.5 4 2 2 3 3
so in this case is position or Pace of Race more important

lets see

Horse AAA has 171.57 Total energy

Horse BBB has 169.14 Total energy

Now run these two in thoromation and Horse AAA

wins easy

so is the 5th place finish a part of the calculations

No
Going Back to the first screen
I used line 3 because thats the line that the program used
I did this race in the post follow up #70 era of the Methodology The sythesis-Validator era
That is my choice
If I had used the guidelines in the Paceline manual
I woul have used line 1 or 2
