Thanks Bill. Your example as stated simplifies the the concept of Entropy and makes perfect sense. I might have focused solely on each Total Energy readout as isolated from the rest of the field. The algorithms used in your Entropy program to describe the relationship between velocity and deceleration give you a unique view and insight as to how races might develop and the players and contenders involved. Insight = "An accurate and deep understanding" (Oxford Dictionary). Certainly an advantage over the public's speed handicapping. It sometimes seems to me that I hear both you and Ted saying "Everyone, just open your eyes", what you need is right before you. Thanks again for your time and effort to clarify this matter.

In regards to Entropy 2 I crunched about 48 races with it.
by the way it crashes about every 3 races.and you have to reload it. Method I used,Bris data file to a odds gold, to entropy 2. I picked my own pace lines.projected the distance.used adjustment 1. On average I only eliminated about 2 horses a race. Ray's rating or composite total dcv\c in spreadsheet. win 30/48 1-3 in composite 63% in top 3 for win. place 28/48 1-3 for place 58% in top 3 for place. It tells me a lot of Rays skills of getting the race down to 4-5 true contenders,to empower the software.also the output needs to be modeled by track and distance so you know what to avoid. The turf seems the best output.does anyone know if there is a similar rating to ep/dv. from the sort composite screen. excel attachment for more info. Pete |

Dos

I'm sorry your having problems with Entropy. I use entropy in Dos box. I have Entropy on 3 computers. all 3 computers use window 7. 1 is pro the other 2 are home versions. I have not had any problems with Entropy crashing. I hand enter my lines. Could the crash be coming from your Bris files ? Ted not having the 4 call export ready yet means I have to hand enter my lines. So that could be why I have a more stable Entropy. I have exported the sample RDSS RAC 4 call file Ted created and it was no problem. I occasionally will do a race with hand entered lines from another program like KGEN or EXDC/Thoromation and then send the 4 call RAC file to Entropy and again I have no problems. I do know when I hand enter my lines Entropy ask for the race distance track record. I always enter this. Bill |

The
The EP/DV readout is a very powerful readout
The top 3 EP/DV win most races This makes sense because its the early pace deceleration ratio So of the top 3 EP horses who decelerates the slowest probably has a good chance to win or place There are many Entropy races and discussions in Follow Up 36 to about 40 |

Hi Bill,
It seems that modeling that ep/dv works real well at some distances. and that rating had 9 of 12 winners in top 4 at 8.3 at Lad.not what I would expect at all.I would have guessed it to be better at sprints. Thanks for the heads up on the follow up, I have not seen 39 or 40. Your site has a good video on Vegas seminar in 93.along the time that entropy came out.And talk about the program for about an hour. Very good stuff for anyone who likes the program. I learned to use dos box from your video.thanks again. It could be the bris files i'm running win 7 ultimate on a 32 bit pc and a lot of the xp programs will not work aodds, tame,pp generator ect, except through virtual mode. last win 7 machine ran all of those programs. You game me an idea. I will compare the hand input file with the a odds file.and look for differences with note pad. Take care Pete |
