Rank the contenders (no more than 4) by the method that you use. Keep a winner data base. You will list your 4 contenders from first choice to 4th. choice. Example:
if you have a field of 10 horses and your contenders are 4-12-5-8 and the race winner is horse #5, you will write 3 in the winner column because #5 was ranked 3rd. in your contender list. You might need to play one track, maybe two if you want to maintain accurate stats. You'll be surprise how much you can discover about your handicapping method. Eventually you will be able to expand, using distances, surface, boys, girls, race conditions, etc....etc....
Handicapping is full time job,
On final note, look for value and ask yourself if you should play or pass that race.
