Happy Heavenly Birthday Bill

I'm sure Ted will have a thread here for Bill, but I just wanted to wish him a Happy Heavenly Birthday! He was actually born on my grandparents wedding anniversary. This would have been their 73rd. Bill always loved that he shared that day. He was a good man and kind man and he did a lot to help so many. I will always appreciate him for the way he spoke about and loved my grandfather. I hope he's winning big up at that race track in the sky.

Marianna, thank you for starting this thread to remind us of our departed friend Bill Varone, the founder of this website honouring your grandfather!

He would have been only 62 today. It reminds me of a time only a few years ago when I visited him and we celebrated his birthday at Breeders' Cup in Del Mar. He is still missed, and we thank him for what he contributed during his life.

Bill & Ted's Excellent Breeders' Cup Adventure 2017.

Bill was an individual who thought about others more so than himself. Driven by that desire he freely gave much more than he received. Justly rewarded now, high above where peace and love never ends, out of the hell of this world. So happy for you my friend.

Happy birthday, Bill!

I am truly honoured to be taking over the duties of the Sports Forum and running a contest in your name! Even though I never got to meet you personally I was blessed to see you posting and having a good time around P&C! Thanks for all the memories Bill

Bill Varone was quite easily the most generous person I ever met in horse racing.

Happy birthday in Heaven. You will always be in our thoughts.

I signed on to post that today was Bill’s birthday. How nice to find that several people had already posted. It is a reminder of what a kind generous man Bill was. My life is better for having known him.

I really miss Bill was a dear friend to me and think of him often.

On a separate note does anybody know how his dad is doing?

Bill's sister Lois tells me they are taking Joe (Bill's dad) to the restaurant at the Del Mar track on Saturday to watch the Breeders' Cup races. Joe is slowing down at 92+ (?) and doesn't really do handicapping any more, though still enjoys the lifelong thrill of watching the races.

That's all I know.
