For those who aren't familiar with what he does, Charlie has to submit his picks two days ahead of time for publication. He has no weather report, no scratches and no toteboard action, obviously. He's always looking for a price, too. It ain't just the chalk.

thanks Tim and Mick. It sure is strange to see no fans. First time in many years that I did not attend opening day. I hear tho that all the restaurants and bars downtown were packed for watch parties.

I miss it, Charlie. Some great of racing with friends, the short walk down to Siro's for some Makers Mark and then dinner at the Desmond. Maybe next year.

I echo all of you. You started out great Charlie. Congratulations! I will miss you and Missy a lot; along with our walks to the paddock and the occasional entrance to the winners circle for photos. And most of all your knowledgable talks along the way about owners, trainer and the like. I will never forget the excitement when you and I hit that longshot winner two years ago in the last race on our last day, W P and Exacta.
Its going to be funny not going after all these years. Not seeimg all my old friends and dinners at the end of the day at the Desmond or pizza night, and my new favourite drink, Makers Mark. As you say Mick ...maybe next year God willing. Barb
