I put a week off july 11-19..

I live between Belmont and Monmouth about an hour from each

I'd love to go, but with my spot playing mode, I find that going to Belmont for a whole card isn't cost-effective. Another thing would be the weal offerings in general.

Look at today's card, ten races and five of them are maiden contests, with four of them in a row! This is supposed to attract a crowd on the weekend? I can see pulling this stunt on a Wednesday, but it's scraping the bottom for a weekend card.

I believe their thinking is if these maidens produce big mutual s then the fans can say "WOW"...I could a have that..

What would u say 80% of the attendees just go for the fun of it and bet colors, numbers, names....so if they get lucky they'll come back

There will always be "pick-a-name" types, but I've got to believe that the "weekend warrior" makes up more of the handle. That's the type that may not show up with a laptop or calculator, but at least picks up a racing form and does some sort of crunching the night before.

I figure that the name players are two-dollar players, but the others contribute more to the handle.

The early "pick-4" could be enormous today.
