I think all exports should go to the same spreadsheet. Once it is in one sheet, then one can pick and choose what one wants to look at. You can sort by date, track, dist, etc.

Some dates seem to be in text format and some seem to be in date format. They should all be in date format for ease of use. Csv is in date format, other lists the date as text. Also it would be very helpful if the distance and the surface of the race are in separate columns for sorting purposes.

Charlie,
I agree (of course ) that Today's distance and surface should be broken out, for sorting. See the attached revised format samples, below. I am already sending Today's Date to the Excel file as a date, not text. In my Excel 2007, it none-the-less shows up as Text, though as a CSV it looks like a Date. I seem to have no control (that I know of) over how Excel interprets that date value in Column A - at least, not in the quick and dirty mode I'm working in here (I can control anything, if I put more work into it than I want, right now...). I'll see if the master template can be formatted such that all text values copied into that Date Column get reformatted as a date (i.e. for proper date sorting, grouping). Also, I changed all the Odds columns (BL/BL, ML, Win Odds) to show decimal rather than text (2.5 rather than 5/2) because the CSV format was interpreting 5/2 as May 2 date...). If someone wants to copy all the contents of the output file to one large spreadsheet (e.g. W, P, S or including any also-rans) then sort it and group it from there, that's fine by me. I think my job is to create a source data dump which puts the least constraints on what people subsequently want to do with it, yet makes it easy to get useful info quickly. So I think for now, I might just continue to export a given race's Analysis screens content to one file for each race, then do with that what you will. Re formatting of the master Excel template (into which you copy stuff from the output file), here's the following proposed formatting, to be used or deleted as desired: 1. colour code 1,2,3 W,P,S ranks in RED, GREEN, YELLOWwith bold text 2. rank columns centered 3. money formatted as $000.00 4. date formatted as date 5. time, velocity, perceptor%, CBL values formatted including 1 decimal (e.g. 55.0 rather than 55 and 2.0 rather than 2) Footer formulas: 6. Hi/Low/average summary (not sure about the usefulness of these...) 7. % of rank 1's and rank 2's in the last 'n' rows; if over 50% = coloured RED (e.g. over the past 8 races L/ep had 75% rank #1 or #2) After that, folks can add (and share) their own templates which work with the standard output file. Note: I'd like to freeze the output file format by end of tomorrow (Friday) so I can send out some testing versions for the weekend. Any further comments, please try to make them tonight or tomorrow. Thanks very much for all the ideas, public and private! Current output file formats: EVD20090723-04.xls EVD20090723-04.csv Ted

Wow!
Ted just sent the update with export to excel/csv and the model sheet templates.
Thank you so much to the "Seattle Snake" and "TSip" for their really cool work on the Excel sheet!!! Colors, formulas, beautiful headers etc. Really really nice work guys! This is so cool and by FAR the absolute EASIEST thing to use I have ever seen!!!!!!!!!!! I just did 2 races from Wdb (3rd and 4th). 4 or 5 total clicks of a mouse and the COMPLETE data line on the winner went from RDSS to my Woodbine sheet. Took 6 seconds a race Before it was like 5-6 minutes and hoping I didn't make data entry mistake. Ted you have done REAL GOOD!!!!!!!!!!
