Playing the Ugly Race

Maiden Claiming $2,500 at Beulah.

Not exactly the cream of the crop, but as I've said before there's money to be made in these ugly races. Just close your eyes and pull the trigger (with small pools, preferably offshore so you don't kill the odds).

Nothing fancy about the paceline selection.

#2 was my top pick going off around 7-1

#8 was under 2-1

#4 was 60-1

#1 was the odds-on favorite

#5 was around 15-1

Based on the above which horse would you wagercap for your second win bet?

The moral, if there is one, is to trust the extraction and readouts.

Fortunately, I don't check the Earnings/Stats for maidens. If I did I think I'd have had to think twice about betting a horse with this kind of record. As it was, that was never even part of the equation.

David,

That's got to win the bet-o-the-day prize! Of course, you also picked up the exacta with a 2,4,1 box, right...?

Good picking, and good 'nose-holding' on these stinkos

Ted
