DC Pars

Is anyone using the old Sartin DC pars for handicapping purposes and, if so, are they having success with this method?

I never got any of the manuals about this aspect of handicapping when it first came out. I've been reading about it and it seems like, if they work, this would be a good way of handicapping and isolating winners that would not necessarily be captured by the pace velocity method, i.e. EP, AP, and SP.

Entropy

DC pars was a free handout at one of the seminars.
Doc and Jim Bradshaw gave it away, It was Doc's answer to
the racing world fad of finding the horse that ran to par times.

It was a success for the very reason you mention
The program DC pars and what it became, - ENTROPY were measuring
deceleration relative to velocity. which then became V/DC

You are correct everybody else was looking at the original Sartin compounded ratings

Good luck with DC pars. You can find some methods to use in the follow ups
probably in the issues between 27 and the mid 40's If you can, listen to some of the seminar audios in the Sartin library.
Basically what you learn from the teachers is they will be making a line score of various
factors of deceleration and the "2 best line score' will, or should be your bet

It works because Doc's theory about "pars" is horses don't run against par times. They run against each other, so its the horse that runs against par
the fastest and decelerates the least relative to that velocity that wins.
