Talking Tools for reading anywhere and everywhere

Once upon a time, before the onset of computers and cell phones, I had to rely on notebooks, lined paper, and 3x5 cards. It was tedious and time-consuming, and generally disorganized.

Today my retention is assisted by Kindle and Evernote. Aside from the Kindle books I obtain from Amazon and other sources, I also have books I've found in text format elsewhere online. Adding them to Kindle is as simple as sending an email to a specific address that can be found in Amazon's members pages under Your Content and Devices. Put the word CONVERT into the subject line and then enjoy the read from any of your devices that have Kindle installed. Mine, of course, includes my cell phone, so I can read anything at work or on my daily commutes. I currently have 196 documents and 1,791 books.

My Evernote is my digital 3x5 card system. I pay the monthly subscription for premium service, now $7.99, in order to ensure that I have access when I don't have a WiFi connection. It includes public transit schedules. There I have 2,646 notes in 47 categories.

Needless to say, Ted directed me to the Manuals and I've been loading them into my Evernote, as it is going to take weeks to read them all, even at my usual speed. Too much dry dissertation, I've found, actually puts me to sleep. So I have to take it in in small bites. Especially as I'm also taking notes to summarize.

Most of those Evernote categories are for research and library excerpts relating to alternative medicine, which is the primary topic of three of my websites, www.kurezone.com, www.kurezone.mobi, and www.bestdiets.mobi, all of which are in various stages of updating. I've been a part time web designer and writer since 1997. I will need to step away from the Sartin Downs soon while I finish the re-write on my newest topic page, which relates my recent brush with uterine cancer, for the benefit of those who want the full and total truth that the medics may not share.

However, I'm going to try to finish my template first, as I want to give it a dry run and make sure I haven't overlooked any formulas or factors of significance. And I'm still hoping to take advantage of Kentucky Downs upcoming five day meet. Hope it doesn't get rained out...

Happy Handicapping
