7 and 2

Here are the two horsss I considered as Early
I went with the 2 at the first fraction because it breaks well and got the lead
at 22. in line 2 at parx at 5.5 furlongs The 7 visually looked like it would be just behind the 7 at the first fraction

You asked in the Sartin Handicapping 101 -102 that we do this without using the computer so I guessed the 2 would be in front and it was if you look at the chart.

Now as far as the segment screen, why does it have the 7 in front?

Hi Jim

In your post in Sartin Handicapping you asked us to try to call the race
without using the computer

But When you ask how the 2 can be behind the 7 on the segments screen
Now I am confused ?

I did the You Call The Race exercise by eye

Here is what happens on RDSS with the adjustments
The 7 has a faster first fraction in FPS over the 2

Hey Bill,

Thanks for the posts.

In looking at your readouts, I thought as much.

What I was trying to point out to everyone was that when you look at the Segments tab, the F1 has the #7 as 0.0 which represents as being first at the 1C.

However, on the YCTR form you had #2 first as you did it by eye which was also born out by the running of the race and the result chart.

Your explanation:
"I went with the 2 at the first fraction because it breaks well and got the lead
at 22. in line 2 at parx at 5.5 furlongs The 7 visually looked like it would be just behind the 7 at the first fraction
You asked in the Sartin Handicapping 101 -102 that we do this without using the computer so I guessed the 2 would be in front and it was if you look at the chart." was what I was trying to point out to everyone.

Sometimes in the software, what you see is not what you get. We all have a tendency to believe what we see. It is human nature.

However, when looking at a race using the computer, we need to "think" about what the numbers represent and not just accept the numbers blindly without thought or just because we want to handicap quickly (I am guilty of this).

That was all I was pointing out about your readouts and your having done the YCTR by eye.

Hope all is good.

Best of luck,
Jim

Before

Thanks Jim

I think it worked out pretty good. I will do more. I hope others downloaded the track PDF so they can practice too.

I think this is great that we can do this before the race, but as you can see
that makes for a lot of work that all goes out the window with scratches

Anyway back to the issue here. I used the 2 as my base. because it falls also into the post I made In Sartin 101,102 Its the type of horse and its in the type of race I look for

The 2 usually breaks well, Besides the turf sprint which i crossed off I could see it breaking well from the two post today.

Hi Bill V,
I love your screenshots, especially the track sketch. I will save it for my practice. I am really excited to see that I came up with the same horses as you did in that particular race. I must be on the right track!!! I tried to steal the exacta in that race...but it did not happen
Well, maybe next time. Keep up the good work.
