A note about Woodbine racing
There is a higher percentage of long layoff horses than I expected at Woodbine right now which seems to add to the randomness of results. I mean this is what you would expect here around now. I just didn't anticipate quite so many.
Or maybe I'm looking for excuses for going 0/4 today? Pook |

For those that dare.
Two big-ass fields. Play one or play them both.

Before I get started here, I saw a name in the PP's that I recognized from a long time ago. The jockey on the 9 is Gary Boulanger. When I moved to the Seattle, WA area in 1988 and sometime before Longacres closed in 1992, Gary Boulanger dominated the jockey standings. That was well over 20 years ago. I know his son rides in So. Cal. I think he is from Alberta so Woodbine sounds about right. On to the race:
It looks like the speed is the 1, 6, and 7. The 6 can go 23.0 and based on the 45.3 and 1:09.3 in the last race, he should get an easy lead. Can anybody run him down? The two horses that are a possibility are the 5 and the 9. The 5 looks too late and too slow. I'm left with the 6 and 9. The 6 might wire it but he's not a fighter. The 9 has never run a bad race and has run against sizzling in ternal fractions and can stay close. The 9 is my choice to win the race. Tim |

Saturday at WO
Thanks for this interesting one Pook. I have the 1,6 and 7 as the earlies and I used 23 as my projected pace....I'm looking OTE in this one.
2- never close versus today's pace.. 3- only very close finish was against slower. 4- only sprint was vs. slower 5- has won or finished very close twice vs today's pace or faster. contender 8- has won against today's pace. contender 9- has won or finished VC all 3 times faced today's pace. major contender The 8 will be behind the 5 and 9. The 9 is clearly my top choice but that move the 5 made last time is stuck in my mind so I will take BOTH 9 and 5 for the contest.... |
