YES, But you have to close the program and clear the cache and then reload the race.

Some facts
Thanks Rmath
I see the 7 and 5.5 adjustments RDSS is making The issue I have is not only the speed rating of 1 point The issue I have is today's distance is 7 furlongs just as the distance of paceline 1 Line 2 is being adjusted to today's 7 furlong distance from 5.5 furlongs In the follow up Doc is often asked "are 5.5 furlong races comparable to 6 or 7 furlongs" His response is - Let your records of the races at your track tell you. I have my records. First off according to my database 5.5 furlong races for 3 + males have a average adjusted speed rating of 82. The average adjusted speed ratings for 3 + males going 7 furlongs is 79 So its seems to be a fact that on average 5.5 races run faster than 7 furlong races at Parx. Since the 10 ran a 7 furlong speed rating faster than average and the 10 ran a 5.5 speed rating slower than average I feel this indicates that line 1 is more representative than line 2. Looking at the POR adjustments It seems like in this race the 5.5 lines are being overly adjusted The adjusted POR for line 2 is saying 21.5 45.7 and 123.3 No horse has run against a faster POR first fraction at 7 furlongs than 22.5 But the average POR fractions for 7 furlong races at Parx for 3 + Males is 23.4 46.5 125.5 Last edited by Bill V.; 11-22-2013 at 10:40 AM. |

From my checking, using Dick's settings, choosing either the 1st or 2nd line for #10 changes neither the BL/BL position (4th), the VDC rank (tied 3rd) the CSR rank (tied 1st) nor the E/L distribution style.
It's pretty close to a moot point which line to use. FWIW, in my own practice, if one line or the other changes nothing about my primary decision making factors (BL, VDC, E/L), I tend to go with the more recent one, closest to today's distance. But even that is mostly for 'show' - as either works, and - importantly - BOTH serve as confirmation of what I'm seeing. Ted

Thanks Ted
Thanks Ted
I agree with you. except the fact that 5.5 race and 7 furlong races run so differently. and in this case the competitive make up of the race effects my decision Anyway Here is what VALM shows It gives both line 1 and 2 an adjusted speed rating of 81 Yet line 1 is rated better on The total energy, Primary line score, BLBL and VDC Thanks Bill Last edited by Bill V.; 11-22-2013 at 11:30 AM. |

Thanks Ted, you are right that in this race it makes no difference.

That is true
Thanks Rmath
However I am comparing RDSS in Howard Sartins settings to Valm also using Howard Sartins settngs/programs Each program is showing line 1 as superior to line 2 Your using settings that you decided are better than Doc's So you will get different results I am not comparing Doc's work to your personal opinion on what works by your settings I am showing why I feel that line 2 is not the Best of the last 3 at a comparable distance surface or competition level Thanks Bill |
