This thread is a glimpse of one of the things I will be doing with the Matchup newsletter. Provide feedback,tools,articles and Jim's teaching up close and PERSONAL to help you WIN.

Purpose of this thread:
To produce screen shots of race "Matching Patterns" that will repeat themselves IF we are LOOKING for them and match races in a QUIET environment allowing RECALL of such WINNING patterns.

I am going to use "Hat Helpers" for each race laid out. REMEMBER them. They will help put CASH in your pockets going forward when you work races ALONE.

When I "quote" Jim they are HIS teachings to me. NOTHING added by me.

FOCUS on him talking. Then when working race by yourself let your mind LISTEN to what he says.

If you are SERIOUS about learning the Matchup you MUST be alone in a quiet room where you can FOCUS on the races that will follow. Otherwise you will NOT get what you need from this.

This will be an ongoing thread(until my newsletter is finished and ready to go) where several races a week will be displayed. These are WINNING race patterns.

1) LISTEN to Jim talking to YOU in the "Hat helper"
2) LOOK at the screen shot
3) Go back and LISTEN to Jim talking to YOU in the "Hat helper"
4) LOOK at the screen shot
5) REMEMBER what you just heard and saw

Good stuff, Richie as usual. I finally got one!

I do have a question though. I noticed on the 10 horse you used the 4th line back and on the 1 you also used the 4th line and on another you used the 5th line...all well and good.

I know we've talked about power lines and the like, but I was wondering if you could elaborate on your pace line selection method either here or in the newsletters. Seeing as how you have more experience doing this than any of us excepting the Hat, I know I could learn a thing or two from your thinking about which pace lines to use and why.

why the Stretch time is marked at 6f in a route race?

1) I looked at the 1st fraction times of the sprinter #3. 23.0

2) I looked at the 1st fraction time of the fastest router #9. 24.0

3) For me to BET my money on Other than early I NEEDED one who faced 1st fraction pace of 23.0 - 24.0 tops. If I didn't I would PASS the race and move on(which happens often).

4) Moving through the field I hadn't found one and was all set to PASS when I got to the last horse #10.

5) Look at his pp's from the last race moving downward
a) last race is a sprint - No
b) 2nd back is route facing 25.1 first fraction - way too slow - No
c) 3rd back is route facing 24.4 first fraction - way too slow - No
d) 4th back is route facing 23.3 first fraction - BINGO! - WINS the race and shows vicious POWER MOVE!

Thanks, Richie. I see what you did, and it makes perfect sense. I have two followup questions:

1. How far back would you go? Would you go all the way back to the tenth race if need be?

2. The line you selected for the 10 was from a different track--FP--so I assume that made no difference whatsoever.
I also assume you made no adjustments, and just took that time at face value. I have no problem with doing that, and I have been doing things that way myself. I'm just trying to make sure I completely understand. Are there any circumstances where you or the Hat would adjust that time?

YES as long as the horse being looked at has not changed his running style completely in recent races
