Final Day notes

Horse 1 Starlite Style 8/1 3 for 15 Sustained Line 2. Very consistent Line 1 is a dud but it's after a layoff

Horse 2 Nodiac (IRE) 3.5/1 Sustained Line 1 and 2 are + pacelines line 1 is a 180 TPR so I will use that one

Horse 3 Kathy's Song 8/1 2 for 8 Early Presser Line 1 was a troubled trip in a grade 1 Lines 2-5 are all plus pace lines. Stayed here at DMR and trained well Line 2.

Horse 4. Dis Smart Cat 8/1 4 for 12 Early No turf races to rate or races longer than 1 mile It's TPRs look to low to consider, Can it win a Turf Route? Maybe, but I will look elsewhere/

Horse 5. Jeremy's Legacy (IRE) 3/1 2 for 18 ML favorite Presser
Line 1 is a win line no reason to go back further.

Horse 6 Scratch

Horse 7.Laseen (IRE) 8/1 3 for 26 Sus Presser Made two nice moves in line 2
I will use it, This one has been running in stakes races in the last 3 so I
will rate line 2

Horse 8 Themodynamics 20/1 2 for 16 Sustained line 3 is just about the only thing I can rate
I will look elsewhere.

Horse 9.Dynamic Mizzes K 8/1 2 for 13 Sustained Line 1 is a plus line but it rates low from
the distance adjustment from 11 furlongs It ran a 180 TPR in the fall here at Del Mar
but lines 2 and 3 are at this class and distance and they are not good.

Horse 10 Ginga (ARG)
20/1 2 for 17 Preser Just seems a cut below these
Line 3 is a + line but it rates low anyway

Horse 11 Khalees1
30/1 1 for 10 Line 1 is a dud race at the OC40 level
Line 2 is a + line where it was able to control a slow early pace
Unless a 30 day layoff cure its issues This on will not get its first win against winners in this race

Horse 12 How Unusual 6/1 3 for 16 Sustained Line 1 and 2 are plus pacelines both are usable
I will use line 1'

Let me hit the road and think this over

See you on the way back to L.A.

10 is scratched also. Don't think it will make much difference in anybody's capping.

Thanks Bill for posting these races. Many tough ones to be sure. A good percentage were passes but some of us pushed through anyway. It was fun.

Bill, thanks for this summer-long visit to Del Mar!

Here are my Contenders for this race. I will try to visit it during the run up to post time, and get any tote related intelligence, and report further if I can. It has been pouring rain here in Ontario most of the Labour Day weekend, so a good night to curl up on the couch. But let's see.

Heading for my first Breeders' Cup at Del Mar this November! See YOU there

I'll bite. Contenders:

#1: Line 4
#2: Line 1
#5: Line 1
#7: Line 2
#9: Line 2
#12: Line 1

Close, competitive race. Line of thinking is that if #7 can get the trip, it is capable of running huge today. Huge odds at 14-1. #12 is also a nice price potential play. #9 is an outlier, can that one turn it around in a shorter turf route? With such a tight spread in competition, I'll dutch the #7, #9 and #12 and try for the price.

In reverse order:

11 -- Khaleesi: stretches out, up in purse, third after layoff, jockey switch, but July 22 race took a lot out

8 -- Thermodynamics: stretches out, returns to previous winning level, first after layoff, jockey switch, but seems to prefer 9f

7 -- Laseen: coming from nongraded stakes, 3rd after layoff, jockey switch, but moving in wrong direction

9 -- Dynamic Mizzes K: shortens up, coming from nongraded stakes, returns to previous winning level, 4th after layoff, jockey switch, should be closing, will look to use underneath in exotics

1 -- Starlite Style: dropping from nongraded stakes to previous winning level, second after layoff, positive jockey switch to Desormeaux, probably too slow for win, might pick up a piece of tri or super

3 -- Kathy's Song: cuts back in distance, dropping from nongraded stakes, 2nd after layoff, jockey switch, probably not fast enough even if improves

12 -- How Unusual: dropping from nongraded stakes to previous winning level, 3rd after layoff, jockey switch, looks a bit slow compared to top 3

4 -- Dis Smart Cat: switches from dirt to turf, first time on turf, moves from sprint to route, returns to previous winning level, first after layoff, jockey switch, should have lead by 1/2 mi, if can hold on and dirt form translates to turf, has value at 8-1 ML

5 -- Jeremy's Legacy: stretches out, returns to previous winning level, 2nd after layoff, should be closing, can win this if runs back to Aug 5 race

2 -- Nodiac: stretches out, pattern shows potential for new top

Bets: win bets 2,5, gonna throw at little on the 4 based on odds, exacta 2,5/2,5,9
