Monmouth Park

I came across an old article from 2010 but thought it had something interesting that Joe Bravo talked about:

"Because Monmouth was built so close to the Jersey Shore, the incoming tides tighten the dirt on the track, he said. The later in the day you run, the more you want a speed horse because it can carry better.

He promises that if you watch a full day of races, the dirt will warp from a sandy beach color, to a “rich red.” That’s how you know."
