Running Styles

Are the running styles listed in RDSS based on a paceline where the horse has won so as to establish his most comfortable running style ???

E horses wire to wire and therefore won doing it.

EP horses within one length at first call and won doing it.

P horses within one length at half mile call and won doing it.

SP horses within one length at stretch call and won doing it

S horses none of above group yet won.

Joseph,
A couple of points for you to consider: running styles are based on where the horse like to position itself in the running pack.
An "E" horse does not mean that the horse only wins "wire to wire". It simply means that the horse likes to be in the lead, and will fight to get the lead. Those are my favorite horses to bet when they are in form, and running at the right level (class).
An EP horse does not like to take the lead, but may challenge the E horse, by applying pressure. If the E horse can keep up, it will win, if not, the EP will win. So is the P horse.
SP horses like to stay in the back, and make their move in the second call. They usually win by passing other horses that are tired or that cannot keep up with pace, especially in routes. They win less races than E and P horses because most of the time they got stuck in traffic. I hope that helps.
