This race is one that gives me two choices.
1) pass because the 2 horse is 3/2 and the 6 horse is 1/1.
2) take a shot the 5 horse was 44/1 and the 7 horse was 28/1.

I chose the second because the odds were worth it.
You will lose more often than win in these races but when you hit it it very worthwhile.

Hello Rmath

Besides the fact that the odds on your two horses were 28/1 and 44/1
Is there any reason you felt this horse would win the race ?
RDSS has the 2 with a 7 point advantage

If you and I were sitting together at Calder today in the grandstand
would you honestly bet $100/ $50 win bets against the 2 and with these two horses ?

Bill, If we were sitting together at CRC and we were looking at this race I would have only bet 2.00 to win on these two horses and not a penny more.
The #2 horse was indeed the best horse in the race and at 3/2 I would have passed the race.
I probably should not have put this race in the contest since I would not have played it in real life.
I apologize to all for any who would think that this is a typical playable race,
one it was a small field after scratches; and two both of the top 2 were bet down way too low to play.
I personally try to restrict my own play to races with at least 8 horses and whose running lines are not a mix of sprint & routes or dirt and turf or poly.

I hope that I have not misled anyone into believing that all races are playable. On most cards I find only 3 or 4 possible playable races.

This CRC race was one that should NOT be played and I will try to be more careful about the races I enter in the contest from now on.

hard

Thank you Rmath

If I appear to be hard on you or anybody I apologize

I think you are a big man to stand up and be honest.
I would not ask tough questions if I didn't respect the person
who I ask.

I get depressed when I see what is being offered as prize money
every month and all we ask is that people be honest and
show the group what they are betting

If each person could just make 20 public bets for us
and post the bet as if you really were betting $100 dollars
We would all benifit

Maybe others will be more lucky and pick races that pay better
maybe others will be more skilled
and find races that stay filled

If you don't have this skill or luck., follow those who do and learn

so you do your honest best...now what ?
So ok you don't win a big prize. but you will be getting an education
If we all do our best and realy devote each race as our chance to
show other how to win
You will get the prize of a greater ability to win on your own.

Thanks
Bill

Bill, No problem.
I did not feel like you were picking on me.
I appreciate anyone who has a question and is not afraid to ask it.
I was taught at an early age that honesty is always the best policy.
Also I believe in sharing with others if you can help them improve in any way.

Bill, and anyone else please ask your questions.
This is how we learn.

Your friend

r3 prx

50.00 to win #7
50.00 to win #8 if goes off at 9/2 or higher
If the #8 is below 9/2 then bet the #2 50.00 to win.

Bill, the #8 went off at 5/1 when the gate opened but was 7/2 when he crossed the line.
Makes no difference as the #7 won.
