Yes! Copy the Data folder (and implicitly, all its contents and sub-folders) to a USB thumb drive. Just open the RDSS folder (that's RDSS1 - where the data is for both RDSS1 and RDSS2), right-click on the Data sub-folder and choose Copy. The switch to your USB thumb drive, right-click on that at choose Paste to copy the RDSS Data folder to your USB drive.

Then reformat and reinstall and register RDSS1 then RDSS2. Then open the RDSS1 folder and copy the Data folder from your USB drive to the RDSS1 folder and overwrite and replace the existing (i.e. newly installed and mostly empty) Data folder with your old Data folder (and all its contents) from the USB drive.

Now RDSS1 and RDSS2 will access your newly copied (but old) RDSS database and all archived, downloaded Trackmaster RDSS ZIP files.

Mike,

RDSS1 and RDSS2 share a common database for now (will change for Beta 3). This common database file (DATA.DB) is located in folder: \rdss\data\ (i.e. RDSS1).

However, the Trackmaster ZIP files downloaded are stored in in different locations depending on whether you download them via RDSS1 (\rdss\data\PP\2011\...) or RDSS2 (\rdss2\data\PP\2011\...). This is what you are observing.

You just made a copy of \RDSS\DATA (RDSS1) including the database and TrackMaster files you downloaded using RDSS1. Now, make a separate USB drive copy of folder: \RDSS2\DATA which will then have all the TrackMaster data files you downloaded via RDSS2. When you restore these on your newly formatted computer, restore to the same RDSS or RDSS2 DATA folder.

FWIW, you can control which folder RDSS uses to store downloaded TrackMaster ZIP files (i.e. the location of the 'file archive') by a setting in your RDSS2 Configure.INI file or your RDSS RDSS.INI file.

in the [General] section, add this line:

Datadir=C:\Rdss2\Data\

This tells RDSS Data Centre where to put the downloaded files. If it does not find this setting, it just puts them in the DATA folder within whichever folder you launched RDSS from.

Going forward, if you want to always put the files the Data Centre downloads in the same folder regardless of whether you use RDSS1 or RDSS2, add the above line to your Config files (and make sure the folder actually exists).

Hope that helps,

Ted
