Sartin Workshop 3/19/1989
I am posting Lou's notes to me.
I wanted to share with you the wonderful work Lou is doing for our library Lou I am very grateful to you, Voodo fan, fasthorses and Ted for making this happen OK, these were 4 90 min tapes (8 45 min. sides) with the label of "Brohamer HTW 03-19-89 Beaumont". Side 8 was completely blank so we have 7 45 min. sides. I then cut those into "parts" of 20 - 25 mins. each.Side 7 had some problems towards the end, as the tape kept coming out of the cassette holder. No matter what I did, including demagnetizing the heads or trying to fast forward and start from another spot did not work - the tape would spill out and stop the recorder. I did fast forward enough ahead to know that the tape actually cut off anyway. I was able to keep the Brohamer piece whole by splicing 2 audio files together and I tacked on whatever was left on the tape which cut off anyway - it was just Doc saying that he would keep the same order of presenters as he had the day before. The title is a bit misleading as there is more than Brohamer here. It seems to be one of the Beaumont workshops (I attended one live around this time). I will give my self the treat of listening this weekend but here is the voice heard at the beginning of each part:Brohamer HTW 03-19-89 Side 1 Part 1.mp3 DocBrohamer HTW 03-19-89 Side 1 Part 2.mp3 DocBrohamer HTW 03-19-89 Side 2 Part 1.mp3 DocBrohamer HTW 03-19-89 Side 2 Part 2.mp3 DocBrohamer HTW 03-19-89 Side 3 Part 1.mp3 Tom Hambleton (I think)Brohamer HTW 03-19-89 Side 3 Part 2.mp3 Tom Hambleton (I think) Brohamer HTW 03-19-89 Side 4 Part 1.mp3 BrohamerBrohamer HTW 03-19-89 Side 4 Part 2.mp3 SchmidtBrohamer HTW 03-19-89 Side 5 Part 1.mp3 DocBrohamer HTW 03-19-89 Side 5 Part 2.mp3 BrohamerBrohamer HTW 03-19-89 Side 6 Part 1.mp3 BrohamerBrohamer HTW 03-19-89 Side 6 Part 2.mp3 BrohamerBrohamer HTW 03-19-89 Side 7 Part 1.mp3 BrohamerBrohamer HTW 03-19-89 Side 7 Part 2 CUTS OFF.mp3 BrohamerI applied some hiss reduction and played with the volume a bit to make it a great listen for everyone and some good reinforcement for the more advanced folks. It was actually my mistake on the labeling of the tapes - only one tape was labeled Brohamer HTW. This is actually a workshop in Beaumont with various speakers. Mike Pizzola is not on this but from the tapes, it appears he was there the previous day. I believe this is on Palm Sunday in 1989 as Doc states.
I re-labeled the files Sartin Workshop 03-19-89 on the server so that's what Bill will put up. I'm about half way through a very enjoyable listen. The last couple of sides is Brohamer with some interesting comments on turn time. BTW, who I thought was Tom Hambleton IS Tom Hambleton discussing 3rd fraction ratings. Enjoy. P.S. I have also redone the Sartin Pro Paceline Tapes in what I think is a bit better quality. The real coup is that by using a special filter in Cool Edit, I was able to get John Nick's call in to Doc on the tape listenable. John makes some good points and now we can hear them, probably best with headphones. I've asked Bill to replace all of them with the revised ones as I may have made my cuts on the parts in different spots. I'm trying to get some phone call tapes listenable (about 4 short sides - there is some really bad interference on one side) and then I will work on 4 tapes labeled August 1987.
