Lil Bro,Thanks for all of the help to get me back using the racing form and using the match up.I hit my first 5 races but then I got a little cocky and not listening to you and use patience.I learned from that and will now keep on track.Jeff

1) Really FOCUS on learning the 5 step approach ONE step at a time.

2) Really FOCUS on WINNING RACE PATTERNS

3) Really FOCUS on the FIRST CALL (First FRACTION in ROUTES also).

4) Really ENJOY all the hard work! It is FUN isn't it?

  1. The above is the mantra of a "true title-holder" of "The MatchUp Guy", certified and authenticated by the MatchUp Master, Jim "The Hat" Bradshaw.
  2. Like the Star Wars-The PreQuel fans, who camped out in front of theatres 2-6 months before the premiere, we'll be waiting for the "new" spot play revelation.
  3. Any more light you can shed on overcoming common mistakes , "Little things" ,and obstacles preventing us from achieving the above #1) would be appreciated. "Never focusing on one line", like the router who's sprint line verified his route line, which showed 2nd by a head at 22.1, was a good one.
  4. Repeating over and over "We want to bet the horse that is closest to the lead positionally factoring in pace of race" and other lines like that got something to it. After reading it over and over, it became HYPNOTIC. Now, I can't forget it , even if I wanted to. When just casually thinking about the MatchUp, that phrase seems to linger in the mind , like a song you can't get out of your head. GOOD WORK.

i cant resist this) Raise surely gets the lead over Royal but......looses ground badly both in the 1st and 2d call, Vesak at first looks to slow except..when you see that the 2 Es are quiters and the 6 is gaining at both both beaten lengths and postition at the 2d call)))
Too much fun huh!

Is there a way to print out a hard copy of these posts. Currently when I try it the longer width posts don't print the words on the far right. Its just easier on my eyes to read print outs vrs looking at the computer screen.

Thanks.

You can use Adobe Acrobat and save the posts to a PDF file or The Microsoft Document Format.

You have to select each file and then you "print" them. When you print them, a dialog box will give you the print options. Check off selections.
You need to have a full working version of Acrobat or If you choose Microsoft,
the Microsoft Document Imaging Format should be one of your printer options.

another way that works for me is to right click the screen and hit print preview; then in the "shrink to fit" box play with the magnification until you can see the entire screen width and then print the pages or the entire post.

Thanks for the info.

Pace less races how does the match up handle this ? . I also see many races where a horse who only raced on the lead 1 time 8 races ago gets the lead.
Other than a horse who almost always gets the lead ,how do you determine the Pace setter? Is it the horse who gets the lead most often, or do you look at the velocity of the horses 1rst fraction ?

PACE-LESS RACE

The following is an example illustrating the process used
to project the pace in a pace-less race. Once we project the pace,
the horses will be matched against this pace to decide if they are
contenders.

Find the fastest race at today's distance and use the race as the
projected pace of today's race. Remember, we will not use the beaten
lengths to identify the projected pace.

All of the horses are matched to this pace. Horses that can't match
the pace are not contenders.

Thumbs up Lot's of study material

Thanks for that post, Mr. Bradshaw, and another addition to the MatchUP 2 appendix/addendum/supplementary section in my newly created reference/special notes section at the back of the book.
  • Studying so much, The MatchUp 2 manual, The MatchUp manual (blue book), the post posted by Jim "The Hat" Bradshaw and RichieP, and sometimes the The red MatchUp manual....I think my eye's are bleeding..........
  • The MatchUp, so much study and practice involved. With the new MatchUp 2 manual and post by Jim "The Hat" Bradshaw and RichieP, studying has become a lot more fun.
  • The MatchUp is great, because you cannot blame anyone, or anything, not even the computer.
  • I like the MatchUp , cause with the MatchUp, you throw horses out, almost entire fields out .
  • I believe I heard Jim "The Hat" Bradshaw say on tape that virtually ALL races are spot plays to him. I could'nt envision that possibility until RichieP's post "ala", The Hat. Another reason to like the MatchUp:
      • "You MUST throw whole groups of horse's OUT of the race". - RichieP
      • "Yes, that's The Hat in action, man. Throw's whole chunk's of the field out IMMEDIATELY". - RichieP
  • Some of the spot plays we percieve so far:
    1. The Lone Early
    2. The Beaten Early
    3. The Lone Early Presser
    4. The Dominant Early among Early's
    5. Hidden Early
    6. The Lone Sustained or Late
    7. Lone Sprinter in Route 1st time/Dominant Sprinter in a Route
    8. A Presser or Sustained horse who got the lead in last race , and won't get the lead today plus faster than his 1st fraction lead.
    9. Tandem Pace of Race final time 1 second slower than projected pace, ELIMINATE entire Tandem (gets rid of lots of horse's).
    10. ELIMINATE entire fields of multiple matching Early's.
I look this list over, sometimes, BEFORE applying the 5 step process. Interesting results. And you mean there's MORE spot play's we don't know about........??????????..........wow........ VoodooFan

I guess I'm losing my mind matching lines, but I don't see a race attached?

Maybe my browser has failed me?
