Florida Derby

If someone has the pp's for the Florida Derby maybe they can post them so we can have a group discussion on the race, instead of after the race is run.

Fla Derby

A beautiful race. Although I thought the energy would favor the 3 and the 6. EPR 1 and 3 in RDSS.
Also The Louisiana Derby had the winner on top.
A fun day !

GREAT RACE...I had the the big 3 in my pic 4...but I was really leery of Orb cause I thought he would be to far back to close...but Johnny V. kept him closer to the pace than usual. This horse is a monster...if J.V. takes a Pletcher horse for the Derby, he's crazy...Then Revolutionary runs 5 wide the whole way and wins...Derby is getting really interesting

The Derby is never a done deal and this year will be no different. But anyone that feels they are on to the winner this early, especially this year you might want to take a step back because IMO this years Derby will be decided when we know who is in or out. It's not about what the horse has done lately but it's about as it has been every year who has progressed from 2 to 3. Single out those 2 yr old lines and the 3 yr old lines and let your numbers tell you who progressed for those who make the gate, and forget the Beyer's.
Good Luck To All

So true Trotman....handicapping the Derby the friday night before is the way I always do it...you said "forget the Beyers"....I've never used them, even Andy Beyer has stated in the past that he doesn't use them, so they must not be very good...just sayin'

atkinsrr I have played 4 Derby's in all my years and each one won. Northern Dancer, Secretariat, Charismatic and Big Brown. Each and every one showed me something along the way but it wasn't until just before post time did I feel it in my gut. Many oversell themselves on various things which IMO clouds their thinking, and I think at the top of that oversold list is making more of the preps than really is warranted, and on top of that being bombarded by reports from DRF staff and every other so called expert because they have an opinion. Trust your gut, win or lose and feel good one way or the other. You will lose more than you win but your gut will go for value where your head is still in the clouds. Enjoy this year and good luck.
