Total Energy / Total Speed TS

Total speed Total energy

Lets start with Total Energy

Total Energy is Fraction 1 + Fraction 2 + Fraction 3

I will make a race with these fractions

22 45 110 and the horse goes wire to wire

The first step is to figure the Feet per second for each fraction

There are 3960 feet in a 6 furlong race or 1320 feet in fractions

So F1 = 1320/22 seconds = 60.00 feet per second

F2 = 1320/23 seconds = 57.51 feet per second

F3 = 1320/25 seconds = 52.60 feet per second

So a horse going 22 45 110 gets a total energy of 60 + 57.51 + 52.60 = 170.31

Now what is TS = total speed and or true speed

TS is the Feet Per Second value of FINAL TIME

6 furlongs is 3960 feet

Our horse runs the 6 furlongs in 70 seconds

3960/70 = 56.57 feet per second thats its total speed

lets say B horse runs 6 furlongs in 111

that would be 3960/71 = 55.77

so Horse A has a TS of 56.57

Horse B has a TS of 55.77

Now the difference between TS and TE is this Total energy is more than Final Time

If I enter a line Horse aaa 22 45 110 that went wire to wire

Horse bbb 21 44 110 that goes wire to wire

Both horses have the same final time 70 seconds

But horse aaa Total energy is 170.1

horse bbb Total energy is 171.0

These calculations might vary from program to program
as rounding may be different

Thanks

Bill
