Imports do well
Two Vancouver imports yesterday SWEPT both stakes races at Northlands (the Canadian Derby and the City of Edmonton Distaff) with Tommy Danziger and Summer Song respectively.
Nice to see your racing has some proven quality. The mystery was Almost Time's LAST place run. This was our two year old champion last year who has only run twice this year. Was it a physical problem or a distance limitation as this one has never won around two turns? Anyway we are still closed on the weekends while the Pacific National Exposition (our summer fair) is going on. The CASINO people are selling parking IN OUR INFIELD, OF ALL PLACES (this will cause a real mess as it is NOT designed for that much heavy traffic and can only imagine the ruts that it will create out there particularly if it rains). A note about rain and the PNE: There is a joke that I was not privy to when I first came to Vancouver in 1977. While I was unloading furniture in my rented duplex near the General Hospital where I was going to be on call, my landlord said something that only years later did I comprehend: "The weather is nice now but when the PNE comes it will rain." How right he has been over the years.
