Actually Ted, I take this back. If there is one topic that deserves special attention anywhere including on a horse racing site, this is it. If we can in our small way try to break through the bubble of misinformation, conspiracy theories, and hidden agendas it can only be positive.

So good on ya man! It may not be so weird. Keep it on peoples minds. And thanks again to Mitch for supplying the required responses to inspire.

Thanks Ted and Mitch, two climate heroes.

Tim,

Thought I should point out that in my one million words in post 4 there is not one opinion.

Mike I don't come to this site to debate the pros and cons of the climate change debate. I see enough of that elsewhere. I don't think it is the correct form for it.

Now that is an opinion. Fair enough.

The climate is changing. There's no debate. Scientists may disagree over specific details (e.g. How fast is it happening? What is mankind's role? Are we the principal cause? What is the point of no return?) but climate change is a fact.

I thought Pook made a valid point. The people in charge of our sport should be thinking about how to adapt. Statistically, artificial racing surfaces are safer. I remember a quote from Gary Stevens years ago about the recently installed surface at Hollywood Park, "Don't change a thing. It's perfect."

If you are adamant that climate change is a hoax, there's nothing anyone can say or do to change your opinion. If you are unsure though, here's a short list of articles I have bookmarked over the last year or so which you may want to read. (I have not included articles from extremists like Dr. Guy McPherson.) Be forewarned, however, if you're suffering from depression, these aren't going to help.
