Interesting looking at the splits. Shows about 9 lengths deceleration in final furlong (from 7 to 8), yet that horse gained almost 3 lengths on the others.

It shows 1//4, 1/2, and 3/4 and FT fractions, then below times from 6F to 7, and 7F to finish (8). Working from memory I think 6-7 was 12.53 while final furlong was 13.40. My quick math changing to lengths this morning was incorrect, but deceleration difference is clear. Final furlong actually translates to about 4/5 slower than 6-7, right? Then I registered the additional distance he gained vs field. I just thought that was very interesting to note.

Por - poh
Hi Appy
You are talking about the Pace of Race right ? If so the POR 3rd fraction deceleration is much better in this GP mile race than what is average for the same class at Parx. Since I only carry a data base from Parx. I did this not too scientific test. The race class for the GP race was 99. I then took all the mile races for 4+ male horses at Parx and averaged there POR fractions. In order to get a good average with enough horses I used 20 races with a race class between 98 and 100 The ave. POR for this 98-100 Race class at Parx is 24.4 48.4 113.2 139.5 I then ran the POR splits for the GP race and my Parx average in a variety of my older Sartin Programs It looks like the GP race had a 4 point advantage in total energy Its 3rd fraction deceleration is much better than the average at Parx some looks |

That is excellent Bill V!
When seeking to gain an edge on the competition info such as this, and the process to obtain it, can create a serious gap. Is why I consider functional database system imperative.

Food for thought.... The mile races at Gulfstream Park are run around one turn ;therefore, it might explain the stronger 3rd fraction from your sample horses at Gulfstream. Parx horses run the mile races around two turns thus horses will expend more energy and have less energy by the time they run the third fraction. Then you would have to consider the run up distances to the starting gate as some races are longer than the mile distance if you weigh in the longer run up distances to the placement of the starting gate.... Andy Beyer wrote a great article about the run up distances factors in todays front page at Drf.com..... Just my two cents.... |
