After reflecting for few days for what I wrote...it's not sitting well with me.

So let me begin with, "I'm sorry."

I' m sorry for writing the above quote. I can see that my behavior and attitude was hurtful and totally unnecessary. You did not deserve to be on the receiving end of my actions.

I am normally not like this. While I am not excusing myself from my unprofessional action, I believe I acted the way I did because of my fear that with all this displeasure with 'New Pace' by some of you...Ted might take 'New Pace' off RDSS.

I hope we can put this matter behind us. I look forward to learning from you all.

BladeRunner there was no need to say sorry. As you said you needed a few days to think about what you said, well I did the same. Take this from my perspective. I handicap for value and I see by many here they are finding value with New Pace so I can let this rest. I don't look for winners I look for mistakes by the public. I use velocity, I have a very good odds line, I use track profiles, and I don't use Beyer's. I am a $200.00 win bettor and no exotics. Yes this is spot play and I have done it this way for over 40 years. Ray Taulbot, Andy Smitts, Howard Sartin, Huey Maul, Tom Brohammer, Michael Pizzolla, Jim The Hat all had an influence on me, they molded my play. Because I feel no need to add anything such as New Pace then it is wrong for me to criticize the developers idea or anyone who uses it in their search for winners.

I salute the 'class' both of you show here and thank you each for your contributions to our community! It is far easier to see people with whom we disagree as the 'other' than to see them as human beings, likely with strong views, with personal histories, desires, weaknesses, etc. Yet in this case, also with great passion for our game and affection and respect for our mentors.

I have learned a lot from each of you over the years. Raman (Bladerunner), you told me several years ago of your own and your father's history with the game, and how you have striven to perfect your craft and make him proud. And trotman has been to my home, and I to his, he has bought me lunch and showed me how he wins at a day well spent at Woodbine together: I have no reason to distrust what he says and I call his mentors my mentors also - he is a good guy, though indeed one with strong opinions (and some of them different from my own!)

Let us carry on!

For the record, I have no intention whatsoever of removing NewPace from RDSS, indeed I will eventually update it. There are more ways than you know that people have adapted these ideas to their own methods, mixed them with other ideas inherited from Howard Sartin's time, and made them something new. I dare say some of the ideas would surprise even Dave Schwartz!

So NewPace stays, and like all the other existing components and components yet to come, each person is free (even bound) to make it their own, to use those they understand or which match their individual style, or which simply generate a proven return with an acceptable amount of effort - and to set aside the others (perhaps for a future day).

To all, Ted mentioned "Class" and that about sums up the people on this site. And I have many times mentioned how I thought this or that was flawed and yet I have a flaw and that is I have strong opinions on many things. Shoeless you commend me for sticking to my way of play and that, I believe was the root of my initial post. For all of my years at this and specifically the last 25 years I have found handicapping my competion to be more lucrative then trying to single out the winner. If I go and look at a race in search of the winner I'll be asking all the same questions as most do, irrespective of what ratings we use and have found in most cases we would come back with the same answers, and hence lessen any value. I trust my work and that confidence alone from my work results with the fact that it can be a flaw in my makeup when I discuss handicapping with others, I realize that. Different strokes for different folks.

Yes it is very refreshing to see such passion, and then such respect, something I forget sometimes , I could learn from this Bladerunner, welcome to RDSS and best of luck with what ever you choose to use.

Thanks you for your comments and welcoming me.

I don't look at 'New Pace' as a black box. It just gives me a whole picture of a horse of what his tendencies are as you know horses are creature of habits.
I also look at the 'work out' rating in RDSS if the horse is off for more then 3 or 4 weeks and then at other things in RDSS.
