Ok
Bill,
I will walk you thru this race as I would run it. I DO NOT know who the winner is at this time. First I print the DRF entry page. next to the jockeys name I put in the CSR ranks for each horse. |

You will see that there are ties for first and 4th
Next I go to the New Pace screen and look at each hoes actual numbers. |

The 5 & 10 are tied forfirst BECAUSE they are within .5 ofeach other
#2 becomes a 2 #11 is a 3 We have 3 horses ranked 4th #8 is high 174.91 #4 is 174.41 these two are tied for 4th. the becomes a5 CSR because he is not within .5 of the 8 the #1 horse now becomes a 6 CSR |

Next I eliminate horses on the BLBL screen using Primary Line scores until I only have 5 horses left.

From these 5 I will choose my final two or three horses that I will consider for my win bets based on the final VDC and CSR ratings.

My two horses would be the 5 & 10 providing that their postime odds are acceptable.
I do not know the results but one of my two key horses shouldbe First or SECOND in this race. I hope this explains how I run each race. In a race like this with several horses tied on CSR ratings I have my own guidelines for rating the CSRs. I use .5 as a decision maker. Within .5 the ranks are equal over .5 they are not. |

Config
Thank you Rmath
I am pretty sure I have the procedure down now I do have a few more questions 1. Are these the config settings you use ? 2. I'm not sure about the getting down to the top 5 step. As I understand your "top 5 CSR" are as follows So I see the 1, 6, 7, and 9 are not in the "top 5 CSR" When you select the pace line option best of the last 3 Do these 4 horse get lines selected or do you hide them ? and then slect the best of last 3 just of the CSR horses ? All the config you posted are correct except Mode. I use the default setting. Spec.
As for the pacelines every horse gets a pace line regardless of its CSR rating. I find that most horses above 6 are usually eliminated on Primary Line score. This is the only way to be sure to not have too many questionable horses in a race. When 2 or more high CSR horses come up in the top 2 or 3 VDC ratings I usually pass as this is a chaotic type of race. |
