That day, there were two horses that won, one was named Pygmalion and the other was Call Michael.

There it was, right in front of me, but did I play either horse? Of course not, I'm too smart to play hunches.
There was a small booklet I read years ago about voodoo handicapping. It suggested you should always bet that kind of thing when you're at the track.

It's even stronger if you have a dream and what you're dreaming about is running the next day.

The booklet also suggested always betting your name when you're at the track.

I used to make a lot of money betting the "Dave" horses on the turf when I was at the track, but they were good horses and that was almost like handicapping.

It's funny that question should come up. I was thinking just last night about my recent losing streak and I decided that I was working against my nature.

Going all the way back to days in school, or my years in broadcast television, my best work was always done against the pressure of a deadline - such as when I would be told "it's due yesterday."

So today, I looked at the first race at 12 noon and didn't like it. I looked at the second race about a half-hour later, just after the first race finished and immediately decided to pass.

For the third race, I gave it about 60 seconds of consideration after picking my pace lines. Saw the 6 had a big EPR advantage and just went with that. I made the immediate decision that that advantage was sufficient enough to beat the field after seeing the 7 wire the field in the second race. "Speed on the outside can win today" I thought to myself.

I'm waiting now to look at the fifth - I've selected my pace lines, but have yet to look at the analysis screen.

Years ago I was with the ex at Aqueduct and it was a national holiday, Veteran's Day.

Two horses in the fourth race were First American and American Royalty. She said "I'm going to play an exacta with those two, and I'll put First American on top since that's what the name tells me to do.

I said, "at those odds, play the quinella." So that's what she did, but her initial plan turned out to be correct. Thankfully, the quinella was big enough at 186 dollars that I was forgiven for talking her out of an exacta that was close to 400 dollars.

AQU
Fifth race

I've got three contenders (7-1-4) turning for home tightly packed.

The 7 seems strong enough to turn me off playing the other two at boxcar odds.
