My latest study of VDC & CSR - Page 2 - Pace and Cap

When I did this study I used 100%, cleared the cache of all previous info and started anew, so my results were made with the same settings that you and Bill Varone discussed at the time you two were discussing this info.

I did have one further question. Did you ever look to see if there was a critical differential in CSR that horses could not overcome? or a range from which the winner came from?

So if the #1 CSR horse is 0.0 did you find that anyone with a CSR of say within 15.0, or within 10.0 or any other number, irrespective of rank, could win? If you found such a limiting number it might tighten up the contender selection.

Bill, I use the actual ranks and not the differencein them.
Although this is something that could be incorporated in another study.

Richard, thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I have been using rdss2 for about a mouth know. I bet one track, Santa Anita, I've created a few models and have had some luck using Best VDC, last 3 and Best Preceptor, Last 3 compared, mainly for dirt sprints. Can't seem to find anything on the Turf?? Using the 2 horses to win methodology I am hitting (at this time) 42% of my wagers with a profit margin of 14%.
My hope is to improve my win percentage (and hopefully a few good combinations) by adding NewPace.
Thanks for the tip on the DTV (100%), I will give it a try!!
Any other tips you and Bill can give me will be much appreciated!!

Mike, glad to help in anyway I can.
14% is a good starting point on your roi.
I have found Turf to be a little tougher to use Csr on.
I avoid turf races from my own personal play.
I try to limit my plays to Non Maiden races with 8 or more horses, at 5.5f to 8.5f. Also watch out for any race where several horses have less than 3 or 4 North American running lines as the Csr numbers are less likely to be as accurate.

RDSS implements the original NewPace, not the Advanced version. Dave Svhwartz mentioned last year he was thinking of releasing yet another update to NewPace (NP 3.0 ?) , so I kind of just let it lie for now until that happened (though I never heard further, so I'm not sure what's happening with that, if anything).

However, FWIW, in this particular thread started by Richard, there's not really anything about using the NewPace readouts at all - just VDC and CSR. I think that's because originally, CSR (Composite Speed Rating) appeared only on the NewPace screen. Now it is in the general version of RDSS.

I think I'll just relocate this thread to the public RDSS Forum ... There has also been enough discussion elsewhere about usage of CSR ranks to help in Contender identification.
