Thxs FTL...

The 4 was the "speed" and "class" of the field .....and the 3 was next best
Yes ...CLASS....In handicapping if you don't incorporate class, your only doing half the work

Mike if you would like to know, Using the best turf route line for each horse
within 90 days using KGEN/Thoromation
The race comes in 11 4

FYI I entered the lines as to your guidelines for each horse
I then took out the 2 3 8 and 10 horses as they were not the top 5
KXDC horses Then I ran the race with those top 5

Hi Mike,

Nice call on this race. But did the '4' really totally outclass this field? To me, this looks like a one-dimensional speedball that took advantage of very soft splits of 25.39 and 50.75, on a strongly speed-biased track. Another NL type, not quite as quick, finished second. The '4''s NL limitation had obviously been costing him races at graded levels, and even at the more closer-friendly FG, at this level. In this race, it appears he found his niche on a smaller, speed-favoring track.

Cheers,

B Jennet

Without getting into any specifics, the Trackmaster information posted by Richie on each horse above the PP's shows the #4 horse as the #1 class rating (CR) horse in the race.

You are right on the money that the #4 is a one dimensional need to lead horse.

I'll take your word that the turf course at Sam Houston is speed favoring.

In the #4's most recent try at a graded race, it wasn't able to make the lead. That takes care of that race.

In it's last race at FG, which you indicated favors closers, again, that takes care of that race.

Those are two good reasons for the #4's most recent poor finishes, even though it was still in good enough form to show it's early speed.

That pretty much makes the case for the #4 being a primary contender in this race.
