Race at OSA was at 6.5f on turf. You were looking at 8 and 8.5f races??
I am confused.

Think you were way off base on the belmont race. This horse has not shown early speed since his CD race in June. Since then he has shown no 1's in his races. Hat often described this kind of horse as off form, when they stop showing that early lick.

Hi Bob. I just want to say this so you can see why I picked those horses. I learned the MatchUp from Richie and at the same time I communticated with Jim when I could not understant something.

One of the most important thing that I learned was how important it was to maditate. Jim went on the net and found a site for me where I could listen to some songs that would relax me. I than looked around and found music that I really liked that was very soft.

What I learnt was that THERE IS NO RULES WRITTEN IN STONES. I would read some of the match up books and could not understand why Jim would say that some horse was faster than another. And when I looked at it I did not agree with Jim. This was because Jim would handicap with a quiet mind and (his intuition was doing all the work)and that was the horse that would loom off the page for him(the Hats way). (also this had to be the reason why Jim would say I forgot why I picked that horse. Its because he was handicaping from his quiet mind.

I usually meditate for about 20 minutes to 30 minutes before I start handicaping and I find that It is helping me alot.

I first look at the lines to see who comes from the fastest pace of the race.

Second I look to see who is the fastest EARLY horse and I look at every line. Than if I see a horse that is really fast it looms off the page at me.

Now I know the race is going to set up early and thats the horse I take.

And if the horse that comes from the fastest pace is also the fastest early than that is MY BEST BET OF THE DAY.

If I see that the race is going to run OTE and the horse that comes from the fastest pace of the race has the OTE running style than he also becomes a good bet for me.

There was an article that Howard Sartin wrote a few years back in One of the FollowUps and he said something like this. Its too bad when we see a horse that is coming in form everyone will be on him. We got to find a horse that public can not see that its coming to form.

On Sept 7 I picked a horse at Woodbine that paid $64 or $67 in the 10th race. And I used the same thing. The horse loomed of the page at me because I did not focus on the last 2 lines. That is what the public does. WE GOT TO BEAT THE PUBLIC.

The Hat has taught us alot, he gave us tools. I am proud to say that Richie and The Hat taught me how to play the races. These are tools that they handed down to us without any charge. FOR FREE. So, let us use them properly and make Jim and Richie proud of us.

Bob I hope I anwered your question. I know I said too Much. It is in the way we understand the matchup what makes us different. Like, Richie and Jim said to me,"The matchup does not mean that we are going to land on the same horse." But there will be time when we will.

Nice hit, but I don't think I would have had this.

He broke his maiden going wire to wire, but he hasn't taken the lead once since racing against winners.

Hi Steve..

2 things that you might take in that may be going deeper into capping..

1) this horse was claimed between his 2nd and 3rd race back..
new connections could have been setting this horse up for this race by first putting him on the turf then dropping him down in class..

2) his last race was on the rail...I dont have access to pfd file for that race, so was the rail bad that day?? the 2 or 3 winners that had the #1 program number was big favorites in those races...

About looking at the last 2 or 3 lines. One day The Hat told Richie to sent me a Pdf file of a race where the Lone Early Horse won. This horse paid close to $100 to win. The last 3 or 4 races in this horse's pp were ugly (REAL UGLY)but his 5th or 6th race down showed that he could go wire to wire. None of the other 9 or 10 horses wanted to take the lead in all their pp. All these horses showed that their 1st call position were 7th, 8th, 10th and also were many lengths behind the leader. What should we do in this situation?

In my opinion we got to learn where we SHOULD use LOGIC and where not to use it. SOME TIMES WE GOT TO USE OUR GUT FEELING. This is why I use The Hat's and Richie advice to quiet down the mind before I start to Handicap a race.

In the past I have always used logic when hcping. Now I know better.
Just like The Hat told me, "emilio, don't be afraid to bet a horse. Take a stand and if the horse is going to bite you. Let it bite you. If you are afraid to lose you shouldn't be betting horses. The matchup will not work for you if you are scared."

And also one of the Rules in The Sartin M. is that there is no Rules but guide lines. Guide lines could be bend. Sometimes I do look at the last 2 lines and sometimes I don't. But I always look at the last line to see who comes from the FPLR. And also look to see who is the FASTEST EARLy horse.
