Mdn Winner Vs Winners for 1st Time
Ok folks I managed to find what I was talking about in FU 74 page 9. There the Doc points out that it was Tom Brohamer in his book that pointed out that turn time was a very good way to determine if a mdn winner could win vs winners for the 1st time. Also mentioned routers vs sprinters in sprint races. I will try to find my copy of the book to get the details of what Tom stated.

I located Tom's book and checked out the Turn Time section. He used TT to help id improving or declining horses. In regards to mdn winners vs winners for the 1st time he also pointed out they usually won't win because their turn times are low compared to winners. He also pointed out that mdn & routers tend to loaf on the turn so in addition to checking mdn winners tt also check routers tts when they are entered in sprints today. They usually don't measure up and are poor win bets.

Tim,
I learned to check each maiden's top EP number against the race pars over at Bris a long time ago. If they can't run close, they are usually over matched, especially in sprints. I also sent you a private message a week ago, just in case you missed it. Thanks for all your posts. Jake |
